I feel a bit sorry for Southampton, Wigan, Reading and West Ham. They have slogged their guts out to retain a chance of not being relegated and QPR go and drop silly cash on two players who Spurs were about to sign.

Remy and MVilla may not be world beaters but they are a huge leap above the players in relegaom cadidates' squads.

Good old harry; only goes where he can spend his way to glory.

A Huge leap ?

I'd have James McCarthy in my team of MVilla any day.

To be fair we spent loads in the summer, but in the wrong areas.

Did we? Other than not splashing the cash on a decent right winger or an extra CB overall we spent the right sorts of money on the right quality of players.

As much as a I don't thing Rodriguez is ready (especially at 7m) everyone else has either more than lived up to their value or has looked every bit of the right sort of investment. Clyne has been a steal, Yoshida has become very good, Steven Davis has been a valued addition, Ramierz has almost unlimited potential, Gazza and Boruc have been improvements to the calamity that is Kelvin Davis or classic fumble it in Bart.

Other than missing out on Matt Phillips on the right wing we have spent much better than the teams around us. Plus this window we are apparently in for at least one new CB (seeing as Seaborne is rubbish for L1, Martin has been sent back from Palace and Jos has scored 3 in his own net) and hopefully at least one other player...

A huge leap in quality, because they cost X million and are internationals, I won't pretend to know if he's ever seen either of them play, but the number of times people claim player X is better than some player they know based off a reputation and fact the press are talking about them while having never seen them play or only seen them play a handful of times is a joke.

McCarthy looks actually pretty damn good, having only see M'villa a few times and not being impressed, I'd take McCarthy, there is also plenty of quality in the teams lower in the table. Take Messi, Ronaldo, RVP and put them with 8 other hopeless players and they wouldn't be nearly as good. A team can fail despite having top quality individual players. Usually the biggest difference between the top/bottom of the table is the number of higher quality players, not that bottom teams have no quality at all.

Moses has done significantly better at CHelsea than I thought he would, and was at Wigan, plenty of very good players have been at lower clubs.

A lot of people seem to believe Remy or M'villa would significantly help their club while having no clue how good they are at football.

"We are working very hard," Wenger told Arsenal Player.

rubbish

"First of all we want to sort out the injuries we have, and we are trying very hard to close the deal with Walcott. Once we have done that, we will certainly do something else. At the moment I cannot tell you more.
He's crap, why are you trying to get him to stay at all, he has been absolutely woeful since his move further forwards and has made everyone else play worse.

"It has become more difficult [to buy players in January] for one simple reason: we have a good squad. I know we swim against the stream a bit because people don’t believe that. I say we have a very good squad.

Wenger's fundamental problem, we don't have a good squad, we have so much crap in it its a joke, Wenger's inability to see the crap players is the reason Arsenal will never improve under Wenger now.

"But we have some improvements to make and we know exactly where. In January it is difficult to find the players that are really better and can give something special to the squad. The number is right, we have a good balance and we are working very hard to find what we want."

No, you don't know where, you gave Gibb's a new contract and he doesn't know how to defend, you rewarded an abymsal 2 years from Ramsey with a new contract, you're trying to give Walcott a new contract, you clearly have no idea who is good enough, who needs to go and where needs improvement.

Pathetic! Why do we need to sort out the injuries we have before making a move for players?? What does this have to do with anything?! We're light in all areas of the squad even if everyone is fit.

I know this is what we have come to expect but what ridiculous excuses!

Because Wenger's a fool, random player you don't know gets an injury, buying to replace or cover for him is silly, I have no problem with that, buying cover for Rosicky and Diaby at this point... it was absolutely crucial 3 years ago minimum, it was absolutely clear they are and will continue to be sicknotes, and neither is actually good enough when fit.

We will not improve with Wenger because he's getting all the little things wrong, he's buying for the wrong places, he's panic buying, he's buying the same type of player over and over rather than what we need, he refuses to either see certain players are crap or throw in the towel and move on.

The kicker is, Denilson BEGGED to leave because he wanted to win something, Denilson....... we should have shown him the door because of how bad he became but Denilson asked to leave because HE was fed up with Wenger, not the other way around :(

I think he's in part right though, they do have a good squad and to improve it they would need to spend some money, given the 'inflated' market, is there really value to be had out there for the improvements Arsenal need?

For god sake what have you done wait for the incoming DM rant about finding quality players for cheap places etc like Newcastle etc.

:D

Arsenal are just like Liverpool really, plenty of players in the first XI that should be squad players. They are both 2 or 3 very good players from being strong contenders again. As DM says though, Arsenal's squad is too big and that makes it difficult to find the wages for the players they need. Wenger's communist wage ideals don't help either.

I read about Haidara, and I also read that he said he prefers Roma to Newcastle. But as above, offer him double the wage and there is no competition. Also, Roma said they are buying nobody in January.

We will wait and see.

Aye

"I prefer Roma to Newcastle, as I prefer Serie A.

I'd love to play in Italy, though Newcastle are also a good team"

Think we been given permission to speak to him now.
Could santon be in his way out or is he coming in as backup competition?

Andy has it on Zaha, he's 17, shear pace and a lot of step overs. That always looks amazing in the Champ, hardly anyone can pull off that trick, but his running is a bit one dimensional. He also currently doesn't have the head of a pro footballer on him, so as soon as he's taken out the game (marking, good tackling, interceptions) his head drops and he turns into a petulant 17 year old.

Potentially a really good player, but a £12m move to united is not going to let him realise this as he will suffer horribly with the over inflated ego and silly expectations. For a comparative buy of English and similar age/position AOC was a much better bet at £12m.

Oh and youtube Steve De Ridder for the ultimate player who looked good on youtube and turned out to be poo :(

Haidara: Newcastle want me, but all the parts have to agree. I would be very happy playing there. My preference is England: its the league that attracts me the most and the one that suits most my style of play.

What a joke lol.

Also, I heard that Remy is on a 100k/w wage with QPR, and he has a clause that if they get relegated, he can leave on a free transfer. Anybody can confirm?

Also, I swear DM is crazy.

Where was the value in giving Rosicky a new 60k a week contract? Thats 3mil a year we're peeing down the drain, selling players is as important(more at the moment for us) as buying them. Offloading properly, Denilson, Diaby, Rosicky, Song(just so used to it :p ), Arshavin(he's great but he won't play him), Santos(we had an offer but it wasn't enough, 2.5mil is 2.5mil more than he was worth you ****), Djourou, Walcott, Gervinho, Sagna, Chamakh(though that is probaby not an issue now), half the youth/reserve players that are 20+ on 5-15k a week and clearly not good enough but Wenger will keep till they are 23-25 before letting them walk on free's.

Arsenal's problem is who we waste money on, not who is available to buy, we can sell 4-5 players who never feature for us at all, who could save us probably 20-30mil a season, without impacting the team in the slightest, theres the value we can find in a transfer window.

On top of that, was Gervinho good value, AOC(time will tell on that one), Santos, Mert, Squillaci, Giroud. We waste another 20-30mil every year at least on players who aren't good enough. IF we'd not brought all the crap in the past 5 years, and not let so many players rot doing nothing while being paid, we could both afford the wages and the transfer fee's for truly top class players.

David Gill on Zaha:

"He's one of the players we're looking at and we'll see what happens. There's a long way to go."

"But even if we did do something with Wilfried Zaha, that would be for the summer."

"He's one of the players we're looking at. That's all I'll say at the moment."

Remy's apparently loopy, been close to a mental breakdown, had a string of injuries and has scored 1/2 goals this season, if that makes him a good player for a relegation battle then I guess I'm missing something.

Gutted Chelsea :p

Good for us that as well, means when Fergie decides to retire he'll be gettable should he be the one we want
