January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

I wonder if he'll call it a day. Will surgery cure it? Can it be cured?

The club say it was planned - which of course they would do (and rightly so given the circumstances)

Who knows if it can be cured like this, I just wish him the best.

I dont want to sound heartless or anything but it does exasperate the issue in the middle with two pairs of aging legs there already (although Giggs was running about like a youngster last night lol)

They can have him, in a swap deal for Messi. :p

hahaha

Bugger, hope Anderson can stay fit then or we're going to be light in the middle (and no-one wants to see Jones there again)

Arent there better odds to be found on winning the lottery?

Apart from a bit of sharpness missing (which is understandable for his first game back in a while) he looked quite good against WH, but after the last few seasons Im just not sure how long he will be available for

I figured that's where we were heading after him barely making an appearance in the past 6 weeks, I guess surgery is the last step before there's simply nothing left to try. I suspect this time next year will be when the inevitable happens

He's not going to play again, its massive surgery, with quite a length of time with a bag, then another sizeable operation operation to reconnect it all and the subsequent recovery time.

By the time its all done he will of been out for three years nearly, he wasnt the greatest footballer in the first place, he was useful because of his stamina and workrate.

He won't have that by the time he has recovered, he will be 30 odd by the time he gets back (you can write this year off).
No player I can think of has ever come back from these long term periods of illness or injury.

Hargreaves didn't thats for sure.

*whispers* Both Tony Barrett in the Times and the Liverpool Echo are reporting that we might make a move for Sneijder if he's prepared to take a heft wage cut.

Well we have new avatars now :p

Robbo appears to have turned into a fat dwarf.

I have only really seen him play in a Netherlands shirt but he's always impressed me (I just didn't think he was worth the high figures mentioned the last few years) No doubt he'd improve our squad though, especially now that Fletcher is out.

The thing is, if he's prepared to take a wage cut...surely he'll go elsewhere?

We've been over this with Sahin, Liverpool are the biggest club in the world, of course he'll join us :p

edit: actually, it might have been Robbo, not you. You all look the same to me.

If he is prepared to take a wage cut then there will be Champion's League teams in for him for sure. Hopefully us, I still think he'd be a great player to have. If he gets on well with RvP then even more reason to get him.

Yes. :D :(

I wanted Johnny Depp as John Dillinger in Public Enemies but alas not. :(

Victor Valdes has told Barca he isn't going to sign a new contract and wants to leave in 2014

I am assuming they will try and go for De Gea because Pinto is awful and De Gea would be a natural fit.

Only a matter of time before the media pick up that thought process as well, I can almost see the headlines now :o

It's ok guys, Remy didn't move to QPR because of money. He moved because he played some FIFA with Tony Fernandes

Hasn't Redknapp himself said(rather stupidly) that he went over to see Remy and he really didn't seem interested... likely with a sensible wage offer(i'm guessing ballpark what Newcastle offered) then he said Fernandes went and spoke to him and suddenly he was on board. I can fully believe a game of Fifa settled the transfer though... Remy said if I beat you, double the wage offer and I'll sign :p

Not looking forward to the next few days, sounds like Walcott's contract is being tied up, which means screwing ourselves completely ,giving an inept retard 90-100k a week, for anything from 3.5-5 years I've seen reported and maybe worst of all Wenger will bang on about the future of the club, how this is like a new signing, how it indicates we will hang on to our best players from now on, blah blah blah.

Yeah, most clubs can hold on to your best players, that is, if you randomly pick the 3 players so bad no other club will take them even on a free and tell everyone they are great, then keep throwing more money at them... anyone can hang on to their "best" players that way.

Walcott is the embodiment of EVERYTHING wrong with Arsenal and Wenger, focusing on a physical attribute over quality, ignoring lack of work rate, team being worse with him in, the fact he's an idiot and most important, the fact he's rubbish at football.

If Arsenal sign up Walcott and Zaha I'll be delighted.

I really don't know if other managers are as stupid as Wenger and were genuinely interested in Walcott... or they all got together and had a laugh at the idiots expense and all decided a few clubs would make offers, so that we end up throwing huge money at a crap player.

I've only seen like 1.5 games with Zaha playing so, currently I haven't seen enough but he was absolutely nothing special in either game, he might be great, if Wenger and current day Fergie are after him, I have serious doubts about how good he is, and as always, Wenger will do one of his many sabotage jobs, switch wings, make him play in the middle, barely use him in favour of worse players, whatever.... Podolski really is a top notch striker and we're completely wasting him, Eisfeld looks top notch, better than some of our first teamers yet hasn't got a look in, I've completely forgotten the little Japanese wingers name now, no idea if we'll ever see him.

I just don't care who we buy, Wenger will find a way to make it pointless anyway. The two biggest improvements we can make to the team are two fullbacks, I doubt we'll even get one... they'll improve the defence hugely and as most half decent footballers would be better than Gibbs/Sagna offensively, help with the lack of real wingers.

That japanese winger is called Miyachi and he is currently on loan at Wigan and not getting games. Such a waste. He did very well in the dutch league a couple of seasons ago and put in good performances for Bolton last season. I also agree about Eisfeld. He's just sitting there playing in the reserves. At least send him out on loan to get first team experience.
