January Transfer Window 2012/2013 Season Rumours/Signings

That japanese winger is called Miyachi and he is currently on loan at Wigan and not getting games. Such a waste. He did very well in the dutch league a couple of seasons ago and put in good performances for Bolton last season. I also agree about Eisfeld. He's just sitting there playing in the reserves. At least send him out on loan to get first team experience.

I've lost count of the number of class players we bring in and let rot without even trying properly, and this is what makes me crack up when people bang on and on and on about Wenger being so "pro" youth and youngsters get a better chance at Arsenal. Actual young players, sub 18 and not ready for first team, our track record over more than a decade is abysmal. Players we bring in at 17-19 who are close or ready for first team action, Wenger used to be particularly good at spotting RVP's, Cesc's, right before their value goes through the roof, now, not so much.

Vela scored 12 + 6 assists in his first proper season in years and he's getting goals and assists again this year. Is he world class, no, is he better than Gervinho, Walcott and others, easily. I still like Bendtner, he has a decent record in terms of starts/games to goals but he was a ruddy hard worker and made a big difference to set pieces at both ends(much more than CHamakh/Giroud/Mert have done). He was good at Sunderland, he still bangs them in for Denmark, Juve was completely the wrong move, they have a bunch of established strikers, too many strikers and he had no preseason, was never going to work out, then he picked up an injury to make it a likely miserable season for him.

Its not like I ever said Eboue/Bendtner/Vela/Arshavin and a bunch of others are the best players in the world, but they are miles above some of the crap we have, and most of them left purely because Wenger can't manage a squad. He has his favourites, and everyone else gets screwed.

eisfeld looked really good in preseason, far more effective on the wing than Walcott, Gervinho, Ramsey and the rest, how he hasn't had at the very least a few games I can't remotely fathom. Apparently we didn't register him for the CL so didn't get that last group game, though wenger registered worse players in the CL squad... Miyachi looked good in Holland, good at Bolton and good with us in preseason.

My dad reckons Wenger has some kinda control issue, players that "fall in line" get picked ahead of those who think for themselves or like to play a little differently than Wenger wants, and that makes a lot of sense why some truly terrible players get picked, basically because they are likely "yes men" who don't question the boss.

Coquelin still looks like with a run of games he could genuinely be pretty good in that role, yet he won't give him a real chance. Waste 3-4 games here and there on Diaby, who will no doubt get injured again, or give those games to a player who isn't injury prone and might prove to be useful.... Wenger's a joke.

Agree with most of that. Not sure about Vela. I just thought he was far too lightweight for the premiership but he was hard to gauge as he only played in the CC and the odd 10min sub appearance.

We should have also kept Bendtner instead of getting Chamakh and then Park (lol). When he had a decent run of games towards the end of 09/10 season he was scoring some very important goals. He wasn't called Big Game Bendtner for nothing ;)

Definitely agree with your old man. My mates and I have been saying for a while that Wenger definitely has his favourites. One and half more seasons to go before his contract is up, lets just hope (big hope there) that everyone at the club decide its time for Wenger to step down and we bring in someone new because the club is slowly but surely, starting to rot. Klopp is my preference. He can bring his Dortmund team over :D

Barca want Marquinho & Stekelenburg from Roma.

Haidara seems like he agreed terms with Newcastle and Santon is either going the other way or likely being sold even though he has played a lot. That is what I read :p

He was doing pretty good for Wigan too but then he got injured, he looks like he's gona be a great player and I'd rather him go out on loan like he has been and getting games than not quite getting into the Arsenal squad cos he isn't ready and then fail to get a work permit for lack of games when his current one runs out.

The alternative is, Wenger watching the Gervinho scouting vid's while not completely high, see's he's awful, never buys Gervinho, saves what will be close to 20mil by the end of this season ( :( ) and actually plays Miyachi. If he can play and look good for Bolton he is "ready" and he is better than Gervinho, has looked better than Gervinho in preseason in the same situations and looked better than him last year.

I have my issues with Fergie, but he gave Welbeck a loan, then played him the next year then gave him a new contract and continues to play him. Macheda had less chances, but still plenty of chances and significantly more than Miyachi(who had none basically... did we see him in the cup ever?), Fergie generally speaking doesn't buy players in then proceed to utterly ignore those youth players who are breaking into the team. He bought RVP and yet Welbeck has still had plenty of appearances.

We get guys like Vela, Miyachi, and they never develope because he sends them to poor teams who have no vested interest in developing the players for Wenger, who use them if it suits them and in general you would expect less high quality training at a lower club with less money, training every day with worse players, whats the point.

Personally I think outside of some basic matchday experience and taking some knocks, more than a 6-12 month loan is harmful, practicing with a top team, top players every day is more useful than slogging it out for years in the championship. Ultimately train with better coaches, train alongside better players... end up a better player.

Vela is by the way being repeatedly praised in Spain and Mexicans are keeping track of him and very impressed. G.Santos was a "bigger" prospect as he was at Barca, but has been widely criticised for not leaving Spurs and happy being on the bench/putting in no effort. Last year mexican fans thought Vela did great and were really happy he left Arsenal to get games.

YOu have to factor in the quality of club Sociedad is, and that he'd basically been rusty for the first 1/3 of the season and his stats and overall play last year was very good, and he's continued that form this year. He'd still be better in a 4-4-2 as he is really a striker, but he plays mostly as the wide man there and has been excellent. Yeah, he's no Messi, but, he works harder, has more quality and has a great football brain. His link up play is great, he makes the runs Walcott makes but, fights for the ball, has better timing, and more assured finishing, he's so far ahead of the likes of Walcott it makes me pretty sick we got rid of him for next to nothing, less than we're throwing at Walcott for wages in the next year now :(

Apparently Southampton have also finally announced the signing of that Norwegian guy that Liverpool wanted a look at on monday.

Lost the will to care though

Here he is...

You can bet your house on it that this is the reason for his departure.

Ah im not sure any more, it's been hinted at for a while and I think the nutter who runs the club basically thinks you have to have a prem manager to complete in the prem regardless of the results from "that physo who got us promoted twice in 2 years" will jsut go away quietly (he was really down when we got promoted).

Egos and that age old "premier league/top division" experience are probably what did it (and irritatingly why 'Arry and McLeish still get jobs instead of a one way trip to the glue factory).

The transfer situation is just a side show, presumably Forren wasn't to be unveiled by Adkins or something silly like that.

Well thats our two signings done for Arsenal. Walcott and Diaby (like signing a new player lol)

To be honest I would rather sign Walcott and maybe sell in a few years than let him go for nothing. He has an amazing agent to get £100k but there you go.

Zaha I don't really know enough about to say I would like him or not but he would be better than nothing I suppose. I cant see him rejecting Utd for us though unless he thinks he will get more football with us.

I get the feeling we are going to hear Wengers tape recording. "We have a strong squad and I dont want to stop the development of the younger players"

I think thats why DM doesnt like Wenger they have too much in common with their tape recording rants ;)
