That's why we hoof it, miss the ****ers out!

Get it to the best front 4 in the business :p

Your defence should hoof ball it up to the City attackers? I'm not sure that is particularly productive, nor that we'd notice the difference from how they are currently playing ;)

Seriously though I do like the "with Carrick out we only have...."

I would have stated it, "with everyone fit we have....... in midfield and they are all completely hopeless."

City only have 3 :p

... I have absolutely no problem with Rooney being paid more.

Yep. Rooney is one of 2 players at Utd who are World class and would happily walk into the title rivals' teams.

We need to keep RvP and Rooney...no matter what.

If we have RvP, Rooney, Mata, as our attackers...thats pretty potent.

Need to sell the Afro man - that guy must be getting paid a lot for being a bench warmer and he just isnt good enough to play in the 1st team.

The most interesting change though is in Moyes - it appears that he is now thinking bigger. No longer is he interested in Everton players. He is now looking at top players, thinking of bigger wages, thinking of breaking 5 year old transfer records...His off the pitch performance is certainly improving. He just needs to improve his on-pitch performance.

Assuming that we won't be in the champions league next year, he has got to tempt new transfer targerts with big wages, but also convince them that Man Utd have huge funds available to sign new players and that they plan to make Man Utd the best team in England, again.

The 2 big problems for incoming players (transfer targets) are:
1. who is Moyes...most foreign players probably havent heard of this dude, so wont have any confidence in him, especially when they google his past (average) record.
2. why should they join a team which is struggling and not in the CL.

Moyes will have to "sell" the club to incoming transfer targets.

Wayne Rooney, Marouane Fellaini and Robin van Persie all trained today ahead of #mufc vs @CardiffCityFC, David Moyes has confirmed

Hope this means they're all available tomorrow, we could end up fielding quite a side...

We've played that trio before this season and though we may have won, we didnt break any records. The key players are RVP and Rooney. When playing together they can usually score 1 or 2 goals between them.

Of course, Liverpool will point out that Suarez will score 2 goals, by himself :p

And as for Fellaini - I wouldnt pin your hopes on that guy. In the last 10 games he has played for us, we won 3 of those games.

I'm not going to claim you did because I generally don't remember individual posts, but plenty(I would say the vast majority) of Utd fans on here were claiming Moyes had no involvement on the price, this was all down to the club.

Also Moyes very clearly offered for Fabregas, also apparently for Ronaldo and Bale, this is hardly aiming low, the price was, but again Utd fans can't blame Ed for offering low one day and praise Moyes for going big the next. I would say going for Mata is a significant lowering of massively stupid expectations of who he could get that he showed in the summer, absolutely not the other way around. He also went for a target who was CLEARLY AVAILABLE, which is what I've been saying for the past couple months. Mata was clearly available to anyone paying any attention to football what ever, Fabregas/Ronaldo weren't.

But ignore who comes in and who goes, Moyes as yet has failed to get the best out of the squad he has, buying a new player, no matter how good or not, still requires getting the best from them to improve the team. If he plays Mata in the wrong position, with a crap midfield around him, it's not going to magically turn the team around.

The back four and the central midfield needed strengthening significantly, the attack could do with bolstering but the back four/central midfield was far more important and as yet there has been no movement there.

Well done for COMPLETELY ignoring the MONTHS inbetween the bids of Fabregas etc and Mata. Its obvious that the club as a whole (maybe with input from the board / SAF / Gill as well) has decided that bigger offers HAVE to be made , whether its Ed making them or someone on his behalf until he has the personal knowledge about how player trades work.

No, Moyes is unlikely to have set a price on any players. That would be up to the person in Gill's position - ie Ed Woodward. (even though there have been rumours that Fergie and Gill had some part in the Mata transfer - but whether thats true or not is another thing).

Obviously Moyes is given upto x amount to "spend", and if after several negotiations the club has 3 new players he has run out, then thats it. If Woodward stretches it to four or 5 even better (with negotiation and agreeing how much for each is paid upfront etc).

Seeing as Rooney and RvP have been out a total of about 16 - 20 weeks between them, and rarely played together its impossible to say whether Moyes has got the best out of the squad he had or not. Every team in the league baring City possibly would miss the best part of £60m worth of players let alone the clearly two best players in the team who are also the main scoring threat.

Spurs / Everton would barely have a squad Chelsea without Hazard and Oscar, Liverpool without LS or Sturridge nearly every team would be further back than they actually are (un-surprisingly) even without the effect of a new manager coming in and having to assess everyone in the squad while getting his way of playing / ttraining across to everyone.

Everyone knew (even if they are reluctant to admit it now) that it was a weak squad even WITH Rooney and RvP, so of course its going to be utter **** without one or both of them.

Surprised were not linked with ince since it seems he is def leaving Blackpool, I actually wouldn't mind Cabaye but above all a defensive mid is most needed IMO. Rodgers didn't give much anyway in conference but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got no one in

I doubt it goes as far as you say, but the inform rooney we have seen some of this season, considering how long he has been at the club (despite his various tantrums) has to be worth 300k per week, and id much rather we paid him that to keep him than let him go elsewhere, knowing how much he contributes to a team.

I would have thought you would be annoyed as a utd fan. Contract starts to come into last few years, "see you I'm off, you don't have the same potential as I need as a player anymore...unless you pay me a ridiculous amount of money" :p

No doubt a great player on form but worth £300k per week...not in my opinion. But as a rival supporter I hope he signs lol

Miss out on CL football and it seems a bit more of a risk but I think mata could help clinch it maybe. Depends if the other team self destruct under the pressure.

You've just named 3 of them in your previous post, do you really need me to spell it out?

Plus Welbeck? Seems like a bit of a stretch to me but you watch more of him than I do so I'll take your word for it... ;)

I'm feeling even more left out of the transfer talk than normal, Hearts still can't sign anyone but on the bright side we've just managed to get into a positive points total. :D

I've probably missed it in here so apologies but quick question for the ManU chaps, how do you expect Mata to be used?

He's not a winger and you already have RvP and Rooney so I can't see how best you could utilise him. Best I could think up was 4-2-2-2 like City with Januzaj and Mata behind RvP and Roomey but with the state of your holding midfielders you would need to upgrade them. Plus you would then be relying on your fullbacks for width and whilst Rafael could do a job you'd be wanting to replace Evra too.

What are you guys thinking as I cannot work out how he'll best fit with Moyes' 442 fetish.

---------DDG
-------Back 4
--Carrick Fletch/Fellaini
--Januzaj Rooney-Mata
----------RvP

4-2-3-1

Change of formation, the wingers haven't done it for us for a couple of years now so it seems a change of formation is on the cards, with still the possibility to change it if needed with Valencia/Nani/Young/Zaha
