I agree with DM. We should sell Ben Arfa and play that guy we have who who is a consistent creative presence, works hard for the team every minute of the match, can score goals, and steps up for the big games.

Oh wait, we sold him to PSG.

We're well aware of Ben Arfa's shortcomings, DM, but the fact is he's the only player in our team who looks like he can make things happen.

Anyway, looks like Grenier won't be coming. Hopefully we'll get this Djuricic fellow we're being linked with. He was class at Heerenveen, but I haven't followed his progress (or lack of it) since he went to Benfica.

As above.

I don't massively rate Ben Arfa but without Cabaye and with no replacement we need him, unless we replace Cabaye, but we know this wont happen.

So at the moment there's still a chance Cisse, Marv and Arfa could leave with no one coming in.

Whooppeeeeeee!!!

Hope this nobody Kallstrom fails the ****ing medical, that would be the icing on the cake:p.

Back to scraping the sewers it seems for us, it would have been better if we hadnt even tried to sign anyone decent this window and just done the best we can with our injury hit squad full of glass players:(

Thankfully it seems like its only a loan signing rather than permanent but still this doesnt do anything for the squad and our chances of winning a trophy or competing for the title.

Pappis turned down a move to some Turkish team /gasp
Looks like newcastle are having a January sale!! Everything most go

Pardew:

"I have said to [Ben Arfa], 'You have been waiting and you have been patient', because he has conducted himself well in and around the building and his temperament has been great," he said.

"Now his time has come and, in football, you have to take the moment when it arrives.

"It's a blow to lose Cabaye, and I think we are all aware of losing that creative influence

"But we need to lean on other members of our staff if we don't get a replacement, and in particular Sammy, Marveaux, Hatem, those creative influences who have been on the sidelines."

Translation: "Playing Ben Arfa for more than the last 10 minutes is like a new signing!"

Slightly worrying that Sammy Ameobi is being referred to as a 'creative influence'.

You said above that you've never seen him play. He's an experienced defensive midfielder with a good range of passing, who has played in the Champions League for a number of seasons. Given your current injuries and Flamini's suspension, it seems pretty shrewd to me.

To be fair he's not a nobody just because you've not heard of him before! He's pretty well known but likely past his best. You never know though, he could turn out to be another Flamini style signing for us, someone who was hardly setting the world on fire at their previous club but slots right into the team and get's on with the job without the press hoo-hah because he's not a £30m+ signing :)

According to konyoponka agent the deal is dead as club president is blocking move and won't sell, shocking if true as what was point of ayre even going there if that was case :/

He is creative, he's an actor pretending to be a footballer..... that's creative, just a shame he's not a better actor because then he might be more believable as a footballer.

Seriously though, is there some crime family called the Ameobi's, and no one wants to refuse their father by refusing to let them play for Newcastle or something?

I can't understand, at all, how either of them continue to get contracts at Newcastle, they are both hopeless and untalented and Ameobi will have made millions while being basically incapable of playing football.

He isn't a nobody, he's not really the type of player we currently need in my opinion but having him in the squad won't be to our detriment. It's better to have too many midfielders than not enough at least, and I'm imagining Wenger will just shift someone from the centre out wide, we have quite a versatile bunch.

I can't see him playing a lot, but he's a very useful player to have in the squad. Similar signing to us getting Kolo - not first choice, but an experienced head to have around, and if necessary can come in and do a solid job.

Yep, can't say I've seen him play but 100+ caps for his country as well as successful spells with Lyon, he's obviously not totally rubbish. Right? :p

I've seen him a few times in the CL, albeit a few years back. He's a good footballer, not dissimilar to Arteta. Will fit in well with Arsenal's style of play.

Sounds fine considering the injury to Ramsey is now going to keep him out longer than first anticipated, Arteta has only just come back, Wilshere is still crocked and Flamini banned. :o
