The way is see it is that players that you could get Vidal, Pjanic, Marcheeseio etc etc their clubs know United want players which allows them to bump up the asking some more, then there is the January factor, then there is the fact United could possibly not even make European football next season. So in a way it makes sense that it's difficult.

Oh it does make it more difficult, but will it be easier in the summer if we don't get in the Champions League? We need to offset the risk of that with the extra cost to get the players in now, and really push for it. New signings will lift the rest of the squad too which could be invaluable for the rest of this season, even if it's just one person for now.

So.. am I the only one wondering why we haven't bought 5 players and a new manager yet? How many loses does it take to necessitate a change?

Because the players he could buy in January wouldn't be high enough quality for you? I have already proved with Fergies January buys the quality in rarely available.

I'd also be interested in which top manager would be prepared to join United mid season. Surely anyone already out the of champions league would be deemed a failure anyway buy you?

So who do you want?

I will keep asking until you admit you don't have a clue.

That's the crux of it really, we need to sign a couple of big signings, getting players in who will do a job but not set the world alight would be counter productive. It would mean paying over the odds for squad players as a short term fix.

fabio coentrao and everton ribeiro is the minimum moyes should be getting this window both possible to get one being a loan the other being 12mill?

If we buy or even loan Coentrao I will be unhappy, he's worse than Evra, would be a colossal waste of money. No point buying in January, no one will be good enough, without paying ludicrous money, to come in to a dysfunctional team and lift it significantly.

As the people who want Moyes out don't have an answer, let's say they want, erm... Guus Hiddink. Would he be a lot better?

We do need a couple of big signings but we could also do with some better squad players, and they could potentially turn out really well, and will lift the dressing room hopefully too. I think it's a risk worth taking at this stage.

If we've lined up say, Vidal and Gundogan (I wish :p) for the summer, will they be up for it if we're not in the Champions League? Not so sure, unless we're paying them a fortune.

Bit of a risk though Ribiero, not sure he would get a work permit, what also worries me is that he was voted the best player in Brazil but has never played for the National team at 24 :/

From my thorough scouting of him via the medium of grainy 3 minute compilations of him on Youtube, he looks alright :D

I agree we need to replace the real dross with better squad players, the likes of Young, Valencia, Cleverly have had their chances, I just don't want us to go spunking money in January just for the sake of it.

If they don't come good immediately it will just mean more people getting on at Moyes for being useless, we need players who will come in and be able to perform straight away.

The person without a clue is you. At this point we might not get noway-jose. But we need to dump Moyes who literally has no idea at all.

I agree, he could be the short term answer and better yet might be good enough to sustain a place for many years to come.

It's a tricky one, I think Ribiero for example could be worth the risk, he wouldn't cost a fortune and wouldn't want a massive wage either (I imagine). People are going to get on at Moyes regardless so it's better he takes some chances; that is after all what great managers do.

**** it, if they match my salary I'll play DM for them. I want my own masseur though as I pulled my hamstring getting out the car the other day.

That doesn't matter. It's the show of force that we can just sack Moyes for massive underperformance.

Didn't Chelsea do quite well under Di matteo? Could milan keep taking those results and not change? Apparently not.

hes 70 and would laugh seeing how bad some players are after bayern

only one good player utd could possibly get now is mata for 30m+ hes obviously not wanted at chelsea anymore and with utd not title contenders now and not playing chelsea again this season but still having to play the other big teams it would be a added bonus for chelsea for utd to possibly take points away from them but with rooney most likely going to want away again in the summer it would probably have to involve a deal with him

You're thinking of Heynckes, not Hiddink. :p

I thought that about Mata, but Chelsea would really push for Rooney and he's not worth swapping for Mata. We'd have to offer £40m odd for them to consider it, I suppose if they think he wouldn't automatically make us title challengers (he might, with RvP and Rooney fit) then it could be considered. They can put his fee towards the Falcao fund.

.

Possibly given enough time to prepare his buys and the squad for next year. How much of a step up though, not sure. Also the second he lost a game people on here would tell you he was a International Manager not a great club manager.

So basically you will never answer, because you don't know and don't want to commit yourself to future ridicule. Your basically David Moyes, just trying not to get beat and playing it safe.

Just admit you will never give an answer and I will stop.

I didn't want Martinez because I didn't want Moyes to go, for all his faults I know we would be Leeds without him. It looks like I was wrong about wanting him to continue and not wanting Martinez, although it's still early.

It doesn't hurt to be wrong, at least grow a pair and admit you haven't a clue who you want.

And when they didn't instantly hit it off would be another stick to beat moyes with, buying who was available and calling them average. I think the time has come to battle for whatever you can get with the squad you have and spend more on quality players in the summer rather than average in January.

I think the only people who ever get decent deals in January are the smaller clubs looking for bargains.
