I didn't claim they were household names. I even specifically said that wasn't what I said. Do I need to link you to Simple English Wikipedia, in the future? (It's a real thing, if you're struggling!)

And what happens if you finish outside the top four, and thus miss out on a massive source of revenue... whilst also becoming far less appealing to many of the targets you may have in mind?

Now, now, are we going to get bitchy?

It was your blasé way of saying it, Vidic was the most expensive defender in Russia, like we should all know who that is :D Do you know who is now? Use Wiki if you're struggling.

We may well do but I think we have the squad not to. Still a long way to go yet. It also wouldn't affect revenue that much I don't think (without knowing all the figures involved) United are a cash cow, one bad season and missing out on the CL wont affect that too much I wouldn't have thought, also attracting players, Spurs didn't do too badly attracting players this summer.

Plenty of clubs knew of Vidic, hell we tried to sign him same time from memory. Do Man U fans really want a Spurs level of spend, 100 million of potential rather than proven top european performers?

I was going to say Liverpool flirted for a while, I didn't hear of anyone else though. He should have been well known really, most expensive defender in Russia.

You know that's not what I mean, they didn't have any trouble attracting the players they bought, without the lure of CL football.

Remember back to the summer, I think we were all pretty impressed with the players they were bringing in on a weekly basis almost.

We pay over the odds when we bring out the Manchester United headed fax paper. Time of the year doesn't really impact that. Offer AC Milan 20/30 mill for Montilivo.
You feel Montolivo is worth anything close to 20M? LOL.
Not loads but some, and what?
Never mind him. Because he thought a team that was 5 points behind first, unbeaten, was out of the title race. Ignore him.

On the subject of some actual transfer news, James Horncastle says Juventus and Inter are currently sorting out a swap deal, Vucinic for Guarin. Does this mean we've convinced Marchisio or something? Probably not. :p

Read about the Vucinic/Guarin deal. Quite surprising, as until yesterday I had not heard anything.

Guarin will be 5th choice in midfield. Probably there as a further rotation option to Cidal, Pirlo and Pogba. I read some rumors that Marchisio may decide to leave due to this, but nothing serious.

I think we have to make a decision how we'd like to play. We don't necessarily need absolute top drawer central midfielders if Moyes decides he wants to focus on wing play. In that case an international class rather than world class player would probably suffice for now, I'd hope that someone of that quality would be available now. That would be contingent of course on paying for some absolute top notch wingers instead of the dross we currently have in the summer.

Another upside of bringing someone in now would be that at least we'd seem slightly less desperate come the summer. At the moment we're going to be absolutely fleeced.

Yea sure. Roma are in a title race just like Man Utd are in EPL.
Montolivo probably not worth 20 mill but that kind of offer would secure him I feel. If you don't watch Italian football I can't expect you to understand.

Christ, I feel sick thinking about another transfer window with targets that we will not get.

Cavani is Man Utd's top target

David Moyes has made Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani his primary target after being given a £150 million transfer budget.

Source: Daily Star

How much of that "150m" would go to Cavani? then we have pickings to sort the rest of the team out.

Am I reading this right?

If you start these players, they will likely do better than the current team.

Davids poised to join Seedorf at AC Milan

Edgar Davids resigned from his post as Barnet boss on Saturday, opening the door for him to return to Italy and become Clarence Seedorf's assistant coach at AC Milan. Hernan Crespo and Jaap Stam are also expected to join the staff.
