Just said on 5 live, Ben Smith that he's been told Mata has said ta-ra to the Chelsea players today at training in which he didn't take part.

I dont think in our current position we coukd have purchased a better player than Mata, absolute class (providing its true!). Might not be exactly what we need though unless, and i hope we are going to bench valencia and young permantly and pkay Jan/rooney/mata accross the top with kagawa filling in.

For England I thought that young did okay off thr front man. At least for a while.

So if Mata does join do we with think that is the end of Kagawa? He already isn't getting games as it is, even with RVP and Rooney out.

I'd like to see them together, they could be pretty deadly. But if Kagawa doesn't show much for the rest of this season (even though Moyes sticking him out wide isn't totally his fault), then we'll need to replace him.

He has shown his class when he's been played in the correct position - from what I've seen anyway.

The main concern I have is that he still doesn't seem to have the aggression/strength for the EPL, well certainly not at Utd anyway.

45m euros / 37m pounds give or take

Great deal if you csn get it signed off all aroumd.

kagawa admitting he needs to get stronger only helps his cause to stay and there are always enough games for subs to be required and to sit out the occasional game so dont see an issue for both of them being in the squad

Don't think so.

I actually think there is some weight to Jose's claim that Rooney will be sold but to a foreign club, a few days later stories emerge of a £25m transfer to Madrid.

Kagawa to play number 10 if Rooney goes. If not then hopefully stays and adds some proper strength in depth

Just saw Moyes pre-match interview on Sky, seemed extremely happy but the interviewer didn't ask about Mata. :|

Guess we'll have to wait for after the game.

I thought Madrid had denied this today ( only saw a headline though)

About a week or two back there were reports that Man Utd had all but completed a deal for Garay from Sporting I think and that as the club thought it could finalise this in 2 days they wanted to focus on other players first.... Sounds odd but possible I suppose ( and maybe the news tonight means multiple players could be announced by the weekend hence the relatively quick Zaha turnaround)

I wonder whether Moyes would know this close to kickoff given the confirmation rumours only appeared a few minutes ago

Chelsea have accepted a £37million bid for Juan Mata from Manchester United, medical expected to take place tomorrow. #cfc #mufc

Hopefully be an article soon with some more info.

Oh, here we go: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...to-Manchester-United-accepted-by-Chelsea.html

:D

Chelsea have accepted a £37million bid for Juan Mata and immediately released the Spanish international to join Manchester United to complete the most dramatic deal of the transfer window.

Mata will undergo a medical on Thursday at United before completing the move that will see him more than double his £70,000-a-week Chelsea salary at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have been braced for a bid since Monday for Mata and finally received the offer triggering their acceptance and the release of the player.

The Premier League club are not expecting the 25-year-old to return to them and have already made plans for his replacements. A medical has been booked in for Thursday for Mata and personal terms accepted.

United chose a slightly unusual route to lodge their bid, using intermediaries, but Chelsea have accepted the offer as an official one and manager Jose Mourinho has sanctioned the move.
