Dude, I realilse that you may be a fan of Man Utd. I am. But I am realistic. I highly doubt that Man Utd will close the gap on the leaders to get 4th place. They are 7th place and that is exactly where they deserve to be.

My bad, I meant aim for the top 4. I do highly doubt we'll get anywhere near it but that is surely that is the best we can hope/aim to achieve this season?

What a big bag of ****. Why the **** would Chelsea sell Mata to United?? Obviously United aren't challenging Chelsea this season but next season.... So short sighted.

I guess it begs the question, who the hell are Chelsea wanting to sign?

IMO we need to be buying 2-3 star players (£35M+) and 2-3 squad/utility/young players, who may come good, every year.

Apart from making a collection of highly paid individuals rather than a team and ruining the positive FFP in a few years that doesnt actually gaurentee sustained success.....go ask Mancini if you still arent sure.

No need to BUY squad/ young players when we have a decent U21/U18 side full of potemtial even before comsidering the likes of Powell etc who deserve chances in the 1st team squad.

Also Im all for trying to get a few best of the best where possible ( or pottential best of the best) but I would hate to see Utd turn into Arsenal of four or five years ago with barely a British name in the starting line up ( while not strictly British I would include the whole of Ireland in the above catagory)

Also with your level of turnover yoh will be practiically changing the starting line up every three years and the whole squad within four - that would last one or two years before the club just doesnt interest the big players due to too high a turnover and one big injury amd they would never get a chance to recover

There's no reason why you ca't get 4th spot. You're not that far behind considering the amount of games left to play and Spurs will brick it and miss out as usual. Briging mata in is huge for United, finally an excellent playmaker and his signing is bound to lift the spirits of the team

I dont think in our current position we coukd have purchased a better player than Mata, absolute class (providing its true!). Might not be exactly what we need though unless, and i hope we are going to bench valencia and young permantly and pkay Jan/rooney/mata accross the top with kagawa filling in.

Sky just said there are reports coming through he's said goodbye to his Chelsea colleagues... could be taking that from the Telegraph though. And...

Was watching a 'Football Gold' episode on Sky earlier.

Damn, those were good days! Beckham, Keane, Scholes, Yorke, Cole, Sols <3

Chalk and cheese compared with what we have now.

They snuck that one out, didn't they? A big transfer story helped the powers that be bury the bad news.

Indeed. :(

3rd party in Mata is brokering the deal so that if agreement is reached between clubs (and player) then a deal could proceed fairly quickly.

Only thing I've seen about this so far, still not exactly sure of the relevance.
