Pleased with more options up front, as Wednesday are not doing well enough in front of goal and have struggled with injuries.

There is still a lot of deadwood at the club however.
 
So Evra has announced that he was close to a United return, Mourinho wanted him. "I also spoke with Mourinho but there was a person, whose name I will not say, who probably did not like the idea of my return." Wonder who?

Would have been a dumb move anyway, he left us because he wasn't good enough any more, why would we entertain the prospect that several years later he's suddenly got better. He was a great player for us and I'd love to see him back some day as a coach but no way as a player.
 
Its time now. He's been a great player and leading goalscorer of all time but for the past two seasons his form has really dropped off. Football is a massive results driven business which when you are young and capable is very rewarding, but once your performance levels drop off there is no loyalty to the player and they will be moved on quickly.
 
How is him leaving continuing to Milk them? He will be off the books and they won't have to pay him millions per year. They might also get a tidy sum for him.
 
It won't matter, even if they only get half the transfer fee it will be a hell of lot more than they ever would have re-couped had he stayed in the UK or gone to the USA. He will be off the wage bill and even if United got 5m they would consider that a result.
 
I think you've misunderstood Moses. He wasn't talking about any transfer fee but a pay-off Rooney could demand. If Utd were desperate to get shot of him then Rooney could use that to his advantage and demand they pay him x% of what's remaining on his contract before he'll leave.

Anyway, he's announced he's staying at Utd.
 
Ah yes I see what you mean, but the point would still stand they would just pay that off from a cut of the transfer fee and as they expect to get next to nothing for him, anything the Chinese would offer would likely be like a dream come true. I'm sure it will happen at the end of the season. United will get rid of him and maybe he will take a stack of money for the privilege but I bet United will still get far more money than they could have hoped for.
 
Had Rooney been moving to anywhere but China I'd have been shocked if there was a transfer fee at all because of his wages. Who knows whether Utd could get a fee for him if he was to go to China and whether that fee would cover whatever he/his agent demands as a pay-off.
