January Transfer Window 2016/17 - Rumours & Signings

I love this game.

If he does come surely its just mentor kind of thing, his legs were starting to struggle 3 years ago

he would want to play though , and given the short career span in general who can blame him - but if it was as this kind of role then it would be ideal

any possibility of this Diarra / Schneiderlin swap with Marsaille? Never really a fan of diarra myself , but JM has signed him twice (for Chelsea and then RM) so is 3rd time really out of the question?

Obviously players arent anywhere near the same in value - but 6 month swap could work (just from a feasability point of view) , Utd would probably have to cover both sets of wages /majority of them anyway.

Might be viable to get a reasonable stand in for Carrick until the end of the season (and reports are beginning to emerge that Utd havent yet come through on the year ext to Carrick's contract so have given the "green light" to him holding talks elsewhere)

could have course just be Utd spreading the above rumour to get Everton / West Brom to offer a sensible amount of money for Scheniderlin lol

(of course Schneiderlin may not want to go to Marsaille , which of course would scupper the above completely anyway)

How is it possible that they are FFP compliant with so many players on their books?

Chelsea signed a £900m shirt deal with Nike last year, that generates £60m/year. They also get $57m/year from their shirt sponsor. So that's over 100 million smackers every single year just from the shirts, blows pretty much every UK club out of the water. If they are selling Oscar for £60m that helps as well.

It's also disappointing that the team at the top of the table barely has any home grown first team players and people question why the English national team is such a joke. How bad do things need to get before there's a German style restructuring of how clubs are run in this country?

If a team was made up of English players they wouldn't be top of the league. Simply not good enough. You can argue about chicken and egg perhaps but I don't want quotas or any of that nonsense clogging up the EPL with dross.

Go back to Euro'92. Absolutely ABYSMAL England team, despite the football league being dominated by home grown players.

What ever happened with Tiago Ilori, signed him for 7m, loaned him out a few times, never played him competitively once and now sold him for half the price to Reading.

Supposedly we're going to be making a small profit on the deal. Although the headline figure was £7m, we only paid around £3m of that up front with the rest based on appearances etc, which of course he didn't make.

We've turned down a bid for Scott Hogan - looks like we're holding out for £15m + add ons for the guy we bought for £750k a couple of years ago. Not bad seeing as we took £9.75m for Andre Gray, who cost us £600k. Got 39 goals from 80 games from the two of them during their stay at Griffin Park - nifty bit of business if we can get that fee for Hogan though

Do you actually invest all this money? You always get hefty values for players but I don't see you splashing the cash to move up the table?

We have the lowest revenue in the division and are hamstrung by FFP. Most Championship clubs fans don't have the first clue what it's like to operate on a shoestring budget in this league - we turned almost £20m in transfers last season but still lost £15m over the course of the season, and Benham is restricted as to how much he can invest in us by FFP.

It's really frustrating but them the rules.

Just saw an article about Chinese sides looking to take an upcoming english talent to the super league, i can well believe it. It mentioned Studge, Barkley, Alli & Kane. Would be interesting to see if anyone's heads are turned.

Not sure it will continue.

"China will put limits on the wild sums its clubs are spending on international football players, authorities said Thursday, days after the transfer window opened and the Asian record was promptly smashed."

Im sure TV will have something to say about that, not to mention they are still trying to build the CSL as a brand, they therefore need to attract big name players to do that - otherwise they could end up like the middle east teams - who were trying to do the same a few years ago and they rarely get heard of now ( regarding big name transfers)

They still haven't attracted any top class players though so why would anyone care about their league. People in China will still want to watch the English, German and Spanish leagues over their own.

Pablo Hernandez has signed for Leeds permanently, great signing i think, he has loads of experience at the top of the game, i think he'll really excel if and when we get back in the PL.

So we've agreed to sell Schneiderlin to Everton for £22m. I'm actually amazed we've got that much for someone who has mostly sat at home and played Fifa. Shame he couldn't make it for us, never really performed.

Not quite sure what happened with him, I thought he'd be a success. At least we got a chunk of the fee back for a change.

Its a pity he didn't work out, but as one website has just said - he was only ever a "steady eddie" for Utd , rather than anything memorable.

Good luck to him, hopefully Everton is a better fit (and Koeman should be able to get the best out of him reasonably quickly).

Rumours circulating that Lyon are after Depay and Januzzaj - cant see it myself though
