Wolves are basically a show home for a new block of apartments. Mendes moves his big prospects there to put them in the shop window ahead of a big move. No different to the time Tevez & Mascherano ended up at West Ham.
Aren't most clubs in a round about way? Buy players cheap, develop them and sell them on for a tidy profit. Liverpool are no different with couthinho, suarez, torres, alonso etc springing to mind.
Anygood?
No. It was never the intention of Liverpool to look to sell them on nor were the decisions influenced by a single agent. You get clubs that are run as you've described but again, they're run like that for the club's benefit not an agent.Aren't most clubs in a round about way? It's not the same though. It's one thing a club making sensible financial decisions that benefit them, it's another being used for the financial benefit of Jorge Mendes. Who's going to decide when and to who Ruben Neves is sold in the future and how much of that fee is going to go to Wolves rather than paid out in fees to Neves' agent? But as I said in a round about way it's all the same. Unfortunately the majority of clubs now are run as businesses.
Player is bought > if they come good they go up in value > the big boys come sniffing > they're sold at profit
I know they bought into Mendes' company. As I said, this entire set-up is a way to get around the clamp down on third party ownership. From a business point of view it's actually very clever and has the potential to be mutually beneficial - Wolves get a load of promising players and in a position where they could get promoted and these players get put in the shop window for a potential big transfer. The ideal scenario for Fosun & Mendes is getting Wolves into the PL and staying there - it's a bigger platform for the players to perform on, increasing the potential transfer fees they'll attract and Mendes & Co also get paid all that TV money from being in the PL.I can think of worst ways to run a club; and it seems to be hugely benefiting us at the moment. Also, fosun our owners have a stake holding in mendes company so some of that money finds its way back to us.
I'm happy to enjoy the ride whilst it lasts![]()
As I said, it has the potential to be mutually beneficial but not all decisions will benefit everybody. With the prospect of promotion, the massive TV money and a better platform to showcase Neves & co, it's sensible for all parties to turn down any bids that might come during this window. But what if Wolves weren't miles clear and were in a battle for promotion? Would it be the right decision for Wolves to cash in and would that answer be the same for Mendes too? What happens in 12 months when Wolves are 13th in the league and Chelsea offer £40m for Neves? Is that money going to be reinvested into improving Wolves or will they take a punt on a couple more Mendes players in the hope they can be sold for a huge fee later on?With the last point, aren’t those two things in extricably linked? What’s best for them is best for the club and vice versa. It’d change a bit if in the PL because it’d be debatable what objective is best (survival or pushing to compete more at great expense).
At this rate they won't have a team nevt season Sanchez ozil maybe Wilshire rumours of Walcott aswellCoquelin of to Valencia.
