January Transfer Window 2017/18

Stories coming out of Germany that Keita has asked Red Bull to let him join Liverpool this window, which they're open to with a €10-15m fee being talked about.

They're 2 points off second, can't see them letting him go when a CL place is worth so much.

I always thought that they'd demand far too much money to make any deal possible but this is what they're reporting tonight.
My only concern is, if keita comes in we won't get any one else. Which imo will be disappointing. I don't see him as countinho replacement

Who is a Coutinho replacement? The problem we have replacing Coutinho is that he played two positions to an equally high standard. Ideally you'd find a like for like replacement but that's not likely or 2nd best you'd sign both a wide forward and creative central midfielder but again, getting those both in January might prove difficult too. I guess the question is which position/role is more important to replace straight away. Even though from a first 11 point of view Coutinho is more of a loss in midfield than in the front 3, I'd rather we signed another forward than paid the extra on Keita but I can imagine the club/Klopp's view is that if he's going to have to overspend on somebody now then it may as well be on a player he desperately wants.

And while Keita isn't going to play the position the exact same way and might not be as silky or easy on the eye as Coutinho, he'll replace a lot of Coutinho's creative responsibilities in midfield while also giving us a lot more bight too.

For me it has to be Lemar, mahrez, brandt, Draxler( player of that style) coming in aswell as keita.

The issue was simply letting countinho go now, I can't understand how we could agree to it. should have been you can go but not till next season, agree price etc now like we did with keita.

I'd rather we signed another attacking player than pushed for Keita earlier but it won't just be any attacking player. We know already that Klopp will want to sign a very specific type of player.

The question that will be asked of Klopp and the club is why let Coutinho go if we aren't going to sign an attacking replacement now but it's still just an if at the moment. I'm sure the club will have targets in mind, the question will be whether they are prepared to pay the premium to get them now.

I've thought all along we should be in for Sanchez, certainly we might be able to offer a better financial package (than City are prepared to), and didn't Guardiola sideline him at Barcelona?

Not seen anything from any particularly credible sources yet but it would make sense. New #7.

Wouldn't miss Mkhitaryan either if he was part of the deal.

Yeah I had high hopes for him last season when he finally got in the side and looked awesome. But he’s far too inconsistent and never really shown anything like it since
