January Transfer Window 2017/18

Of course it is. You are 4 months from getting him for his wages and are paying a decent transfer fee, signing fee and agent fee. That's not being driven by anyone being burned as you claim but by United having to stump up ridiculous extras because they know they wouldn't get him in June. If anyone in charge at the club thought otherwise they wouldn't be doing it. 300k+ (the lower end of what is claimed) is what you would pay 29 year old Sanchez if you nailed him a on free. The Pogbas and co would accept this but you can bet agents are rubbing their hands together now to have their earner banging on the door if the rumoured extras end up getting confirmed. Then you have the impact this will have on future signings when a player who isn't even in the current top 10-15 in the EPL is getting 300k+ per week.

It's a terrible terrible deal for a 29 year old. Yeah it's not your money and the club can afford it but it doesn't make it any less retarded. It's incredibly short sighted with the knock on this will have, it has Joses mark all over it. Someone, somehow has managed to hold you to randsom for Sanchez and I just don't understand why other than he wouldn't entertain coming without it being so over the top.

Say City were buying him for 10% less overall cost, would you say the same?

I think the big difference of opinion is how highly he's rated, I'd have him among the best players in the EPL yet you've got him down as 10-15th? Hazard is probably the only player I'd have ahead of him in that position.

This is the way football is going, everyone is going to have to overpay to get a 'top' player. Wages, transfer fees, bonuses etc. PSG, Man City and Real Madrid will all be in for the top players too and if you think agents aren't going to try and shaft everyone, you are dead wrong.

Just to clarify, what position is this?

Im assuming its wide forward, if thats the case Salah is far superior to Sanchez at the minute.

Yes I suppose it would be, and yes that's true. At his best Sanchez is this sort of level though, whether he will get back to that level is another matter, but clearly that's the expectation.

whether its the lower end of that scale or the higher end

its still ridiculous and I stand by Fergie wouldn't of sanctioned it hes 29 and I stand by mourinho is just flexing his muscles and trying to show off to pep
seeing as Fergie barely did anything to the squad in his last season or two, its probably cost Utd in the long run anyway

No-one can say how Fergie would have reacted as a manager after the Neymar transfer last summer which changed everything related to transfers for ever

That's the big difference, Salah has been here all of 5 minutes - lets see if he can do it season after season

(he may well be able to, but certainly not proven yet) - look at Mane last season compared to this

4 years younger, streaks ahead in terms of assists and goals and regularly destroying teams in his first season...not even comparable with a fella who has years of experience in this league.

As for Mane? He's having an awful season in fairness. 9 goals and 6 assists in 22 games from wide is certainly the stuff of nightmares.

What are we looking at exactly? 9 goals and 5 assists in 1400 minutes so far this season, 13 goals and 5 assists in 2200 minutes last season. So he's scoring or assisting every 100 mins this season compared to every 120 minutes last season.

Yes I would say the same, City will have pulled out but not over 10% but because the value in him compared to what they had wouldn't make sense. They would also then upset half their squad wanting more money. Lukaku will not be happy on half as much money, unless they want to buy Sanchez to take every first touch for him :p

10-15th in the league in any position, yet he will be the highest paid.

Yes football and agents are going that way for top top players and you pay the most in competition, but who exactly are you competing with here? City aren't interested for the ridiculous add ons and you can bet they weren't offering the wages and have pulled out. No one else has made an offer on him. A bit of paper talk about Chelsea and thats it.

You are paying money like your competeting with Real Madrid, yet it's a one horse race because he wants a huge wage. This isn't like Veron when he flopped, if this guy flops moving him on with wages like that will be impossible and as usual you will end up funding it while he plays elsewhere.

If United pull out, where is he going to go instead? I wish United would test that.

Trending on Twitter that Chelsea have given up on Andy Carroll given another injury and have instead made an enquiry to Stoke about Peter Crouch :D

Aubameyang hasn't travelled with Dortmund squad to hertha berlin

Sounds good to me :)

Also ozil supposedly close ot a new deal :D

Can Ozil, Wilshere & Ramsey play together? Would be interesting to see them behind Auba & Lacazette.

Why are arsenal fans surprised and angry about Sanchez? They seem to be calling him a mercenary because he doesn’t want to spend the last years of his career at the top level playing for a team with 0 ambition. Arsenal have lost almost every top player they have had in the past decade for this reason.

He only had 6 months left on his contract it's not surprising he's looking to jump ship, Arsenal aren't exactly flying at the moment. Ozil might do one in the summer as well, so that leaves a team with the likes of Wellbeck in it.... doubt he fancies that.

In a more bizarre transfer rumour, Crouch to Chelsea?

Crouch to Chelsea has to be a wind up. I think if Conte signed Crouch to play up front, It would literally be a sackable offence.

it would be hilarious, what a melt down that would be if he signed Peter Crouch at 37 to lead the charge for the Champions League. unbelievable what the papers churn out at times

I don't get it at all. He's been awesome for us and even this season he's performed better than our so called loyal non-sulky players. Can't blame him for wanting to leave, I've lost count of the amount of times he's been trying to close down / win the ball back and everyone behind him is just stood still. This season he hasn't been that good but he was being rested in the prem for Europa so I can understand why he's not overly happy after being denied a transfer. Our only world class player.
