January Transfer Window

Yeah but a big name player who goes to boro begs the question "why?" thats all im saying. The likes of Ravenelli went purely for the cash which is fair enough as long as you realise that. Its no disrespect to your team but its ultimatley a short term thing. If they do well they move on a la Tevez for example, if they dont do well they move on too.

yea but he is a brilliant player, he can turn a man inside out, shoot from anywhere within 45 yards of the box,

I've never seen him shoot convincingly from 63 yards?

I can't believe the hype over Berbatov, watch him play when it's not going right for him and then call him a "brilliant player".

If the figure of £25m+ is to be paid for him, then Chelsea's Anelka purchase is an absolute steal.

If you were a Boro fan and a big name foreigner signed you would worry what his motivation was!

dont loose any sleep over it... the big ones who have been and gone for the money mostly played great for us anyway

you could say what you said about any team outside of the top 4/5 really..

I'm not losing sleep dont worry! But if i was a boro fan and alaves or fred was signing for my team i would be sceptical as to how long they were planning on staying and what enticed them to the north east.

Hmm possibly, but the damage of dropping Rooney or Tevez would be worse than any qualities he would bring to the team.

but on the plus side we would be free of Carrick who is often guilty of holding up play right from the center of the pitch.

berbatov holding the ball up outside their area is good for us not bad.

45 yards from net sorry, not from the box lol.

If Boro concerned them selfs with that we wouldn't sign many players. As far as I'm concerned as long as they perform well for the club then I'd be happy And if they do move on and we make a profit then even better.

I'm under no delusion why some players sign for us. Either for the money or as a stepping stone to getting a move to a bigger club. As much as I hate the likes of Yakubu, Ziege... using us like that I couldn't complain since Yak (Bar his last six months) and Ziege both played well enough for us and made us a decent profit.

Plus every now and then we have a foreigner who signs for us who grows some attachment to the club.

ohh come on Fletcher is far worse (who would you prefer to be on the bench/ available if Anderson/Scholes is injured or tired?)

Carrick is easily much more worth keeping than Fletcher

Disagree totally. Who would you drop to play berbatov?

You dont have to drop anyone - all three strikers could have at least 30 starts a season in all competitions, and add some sub appearances and that would work well for everyone (not even including when Fergie wants to put Rooney on the wing which he has done in the past)

Either way Utd need a top quality striker and to my mind it should be Huntelaar or Berba

I still dont think Berbatov is a good buy. Sure, he has some class in him, but he's so moody it'd be difficult to take the risk spending so much money on him. Maybe if he worked for a season and went and scored 30 goals, but not just in spurts of a few here and there.

So would you sign one of those foreign players for a year or so as opposed to a domestic player who would potentially stay for longer?

If the right domestic player of a similar quality was available then I'd always go for them. But at the moment who is available who is of a similar quality to Alves or Fred at the moment?

There probabaly isnt to be fair, given that Marlon King seems to be worth five and a half million. I just think that for example if Fred did well you would have a Berbatov situation within 6 months. Although given that or a Marlon King i cant really argue!

Of course you have to drop someone. Rooney and Tevez are our top strikers and if you play someone else then you have to drop one of them. If you spend £30m on berba he could reasonably expect to be first choice but i dont think i would want to drop either tevez or Rooney to give him a game. Yes, a third striker could potentially play 30 games a season but not if you are humped out of the league cup at the earliest hurdle.

Carrick isnt, he gets paid a wedge and we could cash in what 10? million for him, wheras fletcher will never get unhappy, is worth nowt to begin with so we wont lose anything. he is terrible but i never said dont replace carrick...

Huntelaar < Brbatov

Huntelaar < Brbatov

Two crucial points

1stly - Unless you are replacing both Fletcher and Carrick, money saving is irrelevant if the replacement for the player sold loses games/ title - Fletcher isnt good enough for the bench, Carrick is (and can fight Anderson for 1st team place if given a run of games as last season proves)

2nd) Of course Huntelaar is less, he is rumoured to be about £15m cheaper (and unproven in the EPL) but doesnt mean he isnt worth going for, he would easily be better than Saha and once used to the EPL could easily be worthy of a place in the team

He's done alright wherever he went by the looks of it. A goal in every other game.

Yeah.

Although Woy's doing a similar job to Sanchez, buying his friends.

But, they do look a hell of a lot better than what Sanchez got in.

Especially Eddie Johnson, Andreasen and Hangeland.
