Japanese Grand Prix 2010, Suzuka - Race 16/19

Proof that in F1 you really are only as good as your last race. Or in Hamilton's case, your last practice session...

Going to go ahead and shock the usual suspects here....but I sort-of agree with you on that.

Monza was hardly an egregious error from Hamilton. He nipped up the inside when he probably ought to have hung back, but he was pretty unlucky to trash his suspension. Those kind of clashes usually cause wing damage, they don't disable the car. That time, it disabled the car. **** happens.

Singapore.....when I first saw it, I immediately thought it was Webber's fault. I haven't really changed my mind about it yet. For all the impressive moments Mark has had this season, he's done some dumb stuff in return. I'm still filing that clash under the "Reasons Why Mark Webber Shouldn't Be 2010 Champion" column.

The McLaren car this season is a one-trick pony. The F-Duct Of Ultimate Justice™ has been effective on occasion, but it's mostly the driving talent that has kept them this high up the order. If RBR keep screwing up, and Alonso runs out of engines....then no-one will remember the McLaren was actually nowhere near the best car, or that Alonso has driven far beyond what his car was actually capable of some weekends, or that the RBR car was probably the fastest overall. All that anyone will remember is the final result.

Apart from complete nerds like me, of course.

Its pretty obvious now looking at other peoples bumps and shunts and how they come out of them pretty well that Hamiltons car is made of cheese.

It does seem like the McClaren does get ripped apart pretty easily, was it Vettel who did the hilarious and strange crash into Button, Button out Vettel limped on didn't he, my memory for specific races and people sucks.

I still think Webber basically smashed his car into Hamilton in that last race and should have been black flagged, without hitting Hamilton he'd have just gone off the other side of the track, he went in stupidly fast and with no other possibility than making contact, he knew exactly what he was doing. But when Vettel does that Vettel goes on and gets points, McClaren need some beefing up.

As for Hamilton not doing well under pressure, thats ridiculous, simple fact is the red bulls(cheating or not, I think they are but whatever) have a massive advantage over the McClaren and Hamilton actually wants to win the title rather than limp to 4/5th that Button is happy with. He's got a slower car and has to push closer to the edge than the Red Bulls and of late, the Ferrari's, theres only one outcome there, push closer to the limits, get caught out more often.

If Red Bull/McClaren's cars were reversed Webber would be killing himself and making the same "mistakes" its only really 2 races, the first Hamilton was a bit silly, it did look like Webber was going to pass Vettel(or vice versa, can't remember) and thought he might be able to follow him through, they both braked instead and Red Bull seem better under breaking. last race I don't think Hamilton did anything wrong, there was nothing he could have done when another car chooses to smash into you in a corner when theres no space.

People didn't dislike MSc because he drove for ferrari, they disliked him because he is german, he was ruthless, not afraid to run his opponent off the road (add to that the fact that his opponent was british), that he had no personality, refused to talk to anyone except german media, and generally had no redeeming qualities.

Which is why a lot of people are commenting on the difference between 'then' MSc and 'now MSc

and because the FIA chose to ignore the blatant cheating he usually won by

As for Alonso, I dont believe he had no knowledge of THAT crash in singapore, his complete and utter failure at McLaren and the fact he has to be GIFTED wins (just like MS) from a team mate rather than actually win the race on his own merits - too much of a petulant child this far into his F1 career to EVER be considered a great driver

Humility counts for a lot in my book - a facet of which Alonso has **** all knowledge of

So how many of his 91 wins did he win by cheating, FrankJH? I mean, you say "usually", so presumably you mean that at the very least more than half of those wins involved him cheating?

If you could give me specifics for 46 wins where he cheated, that'd be great. That's just over half of his current tally, after all.

Morning! o/

It's been weeks since I've been able to enjoy a grand prix. Always had other stuff to do and watching a recording just isn't the same as watching it live!

I'm enduring a night of no sleep just to catch the Qually. :D Hope Lewis and Kobayashi can pull something out of the bag.

Yeah, no point going to sleep now for a couple of hours, I would never get back up.
