Japanese Grand Prix 2011, Suzuka Circuit - Race 15/19

If the guy can't see his mirrors, then it's time to fit bigger mirrors - aerodynamics be damned.

Quite a few drivers seem to have this problem. I think the FIA should look into how they can get the teams to have more stable mirrors, possible a little bigger and a minimum driver height within the car so all the drivers can race closer and know what is going on around them.

I think Lewis has been unlucky this season but, in the sense that you make your own luck, a fair bit has been his own doing.

For me it seems like a case of 'when you're down, you're down' and he hasn't been able to change his fortunes. Even when he hasn't been the direct cause of the problem events have transpired against him.

For instance, he screwed up yesterday in quali (his own fault) but then, after a great charge for second place at the beginning of the race, he gets a puncture (not his fault).

Sometimes the gods are just against you.

Great season for Vettel, you've got to hand it to him and a great result for JB today.

Looking forward to next weekend now, even though the WDC has been decided.

Vettel seemed to see in his just fine to push Jenson off, same with Alonso at Monza hehe, think it was Brundle that said even if the mirrors or not great then how can Lewis not hear another car alongside him, most teams probably just have mirrors to keep an eye on the rear tyres :D

Ah so your opinion is indeed fact? nice :)

Records at the time he set them:

Most consecutive podium finishes from debut
Youngest driver to lead the WDC
Most wins in a debut season
Most pole positions in a debut season
Most points in a debut season

And also:

Second in the WDC in his debut season
Equalled his double world champion team mate in his debut season
Won the WDC in his second season
In the title fight to the wire in his 4th season

In 5 years in F1:

16 Race wins
18 Pole positions
11 fastest laps
1 WDC title

All facts, just so you know.

Yeah. Totally average.

Why do these threads ALWAYS descend into a trollfest/fanboy rampage for or against Hamilton?

A mature discussion on the relevant race would be great, but these threads always get taken over by the same individuals with the same themes and the same posts, all going round and round in one big, boring, repetitive circle.

Didnt Jacques Villeneuve not achieve the records in bold before Hamilton?. Though no doubt Villeneuve wasnt the first...

ps3ud0

Cool stats, I accept your opinion that he is the almighty, and I am comfortable with mine that he is average, I won't respond to you no more as it's pointless as you won't change my opinion and I have no desire to change yours :)

Ok, fair enough, opinions are opinions.

But can you clear one thing up for me before you go. Is your opinion that Massa is a better driver than Hamilton?

So who do you think is a great F1 racing driver?

So who do you think is a great F1 racing driver?

Lot's and lots from history, not so many from the current grid other than Schumacher at his prime and Alonso really. None of the rest really scream F1 great at me, and none of them seem capable of building something around them...maybe Vettel is edging closer to such a position though :)

Is Massa the benchmark for Lewis? I have no idea as it's hard to compare when they have never driven together so would just be un-educated guessing.

I think Jenson is a better driver than Lewis though :)

Vettel is not a racing driver..yet..he is just a one lap wonder....well he did do one good overtake this season.

Alonso and Lewis to me are the only ones that would make a dog of a car look good.
I don't think any driver builds a car around them BUT people like Brawn\Adrian newey built a great car for MSC\Button and vettel..
