Wrong or not, this is just another example of the paedogeddon internet phenomena. Somebody posts a thread declaring children may, or may not be being abused, we all decide yes child abuse is a very bad thing, some proclaim those who commit it should be murdered and then we all go home for tea feeling that every man and his dog is infact a paedophile because I read it on the internet.

IF any illegal acticity was being carried out, it would be stopped. IF a culture believes if to be acceptable, who the hell are you to step in and say ‘Er actually no, we are more righteous you.’.

While I personally would never... ever think of covering my walls with posters of "underage" girls, I feel the above is the most valid point in this thread. "We" (as a generic western culture sort of "we") find this disguisting, the Japanese clearly do not.


And as much as it scares the crap out of me, I have to agree with dirtydog for the first time in posting here.

animals reproduce when they are ready.

at 12 a girl is ready....

intelligence over instinct.

like i say, a million year ago... its just about increasing the numbers of your own.

however today, it isnt right....technically anyone under 16 is a child ?

She's a child. As a person she is 12 years old, regardless of her appearance she is still a child.

We're entitled to our opinion. In our society and in our culture, sexual images of a child are not accepted. The only reason we are hearing about and seeing these images of this child is because we are accessing them viathe internet where censorship is difficult. I can guarantee you that we won't be seeing her on TV over here anytime soon.

If they find it acceptable then they can fill their boots, I'm not going to stop them. I still strongly disapprove of it though.

Indeed, it was common for females of that age to give birth years ago, and even to be married etc.

I think the age at which someone is considered a child is arbitrary because people mature physically and mentally at different rates. Where sex laws are concerned, some countries consider under 14s to be children, not under 16s.

This is true, and I think you'll find that it would actually be considered illegal under child pornography laws to possess those pics in the UK, under our draconian laws.

As you've pointed out, however, using anything other than an arbitrary measure would be impossible.

Might I also add that whilst i am not a parent, I do not walk around with my eyes closed and the levelling of ‘acceptable’ clothing for kids these days astounds me. We have toddlers wearing mini skirts for crying out loud, and we complain at the japs for sexualising children? What about famous young stars here like emma Watson, I seem to remember a large following like her and she is only just 16 now I think!

I posted the thead to find out other people's opinions on the subject. I didn't say anything about child abuse, I quoted a post and said that in my opinion this was going too far. As do many of the clothes you talk about - that's wrong in my opinion too. Kids should be kids for as long as humanly possible. These views and others are now being discussed in a forum named 'general discussion'

I don't see the problem tbh.

Perhaps so, but I just think the laws shouldn't be quite so black and white. Like jailing people for two years for having sex with consenting 15 and a half year olds for example. But that's probably going off topic.

I think it's pretty disturbing, and I say this as someone who generally likes Japanese culture etc.

However, I will say that to say it's sick once you know the age but not before is slightly hypocritical, especially with some of the clothing commonly available and worn by young children in the west.

It's also worth remembering, that 200 years ago she would probably have been considered ready to marry and possibly have children of her own in much of the world, if she is as physically mature as it seems.

She's capable but not ready. Babies born to very young mothers are more likely to suffer from low birth weight, there are more likely to be complications during the birth, even healthy infants born to teen-age mothers are at increased risk of neonatal death.
