Joel, Jim & Jassim - Utd Ownership

Seeing as Brailsford was also consulted by the FA when appointing Allardyce, it seems only right that he's the man to replace ETH in the summer.

Thats not really how these things work. Most companies are sensible enough to realise that forcing someone to stay when they want to leave is not good and if you are seen to be a place that is hard to move on from, you might not be able to attract other top talent in the same way.

Managers leave clubs all the time with compensation. There will be a negotiation and I doubt Newcastle will be ultra stubborn. If United walk away you might have a guy who doesn't want to be there for the next X years and doesn't do as good a job as he would have. Same reason players that want to leave clubs are often sold.
we had to pay Brighton 5million to end his gardening leave 3 months early.

That info came from Puke Edwards the guy that broke the story. If you want him in before 2025. Then you have to pay a hefty fee

And was that 5 million in a contract or was that a negotiation...

Thats all I am saying. Just because a contract says "pay X and do Y" doesn't mean you can't agree to "pay A and do B" instead.

Imagine being paid to not only think that nonsense but also think writing it in an article is a valid decision. Everything that is wrong with journalism today. Might as well have claimed 600m, it has as much basis in reality.

I hope we do make you pay through the nose if you want him now
They can only demand so much. In addition, gardening leave gets bypassed all the time. All it does is stops you officially working for the company. It doesn't stop you having lunch with anyone and forgetting to take your briefcase home.

Football is bonkers man.

They’re paying for managers now these days and now there are away to start paying for other members high up. If he’s getting ‘bought’ for £20m, is he going to be on £50k p/w or something? The club is a shambles so paying £20m if it gets things in order will be a bargain!
