John Terry... you rat!

Anyone know who the new vice-captain is? Apparently Capello named a third choice originally who will presumably be moved up to vice now Rio is captain. I'm guessing it is Gerrard.

Still not to sure if I want Rio leading the country, then again according to the Mancs he's done a good job for them when given the armband.

Glad Capello axed the little toe rag, Im half wishing he misses the world cup completely now

Why jepordise our chances? Who would be good enough to replace him? Upson, Richards, Lescott, Cahill...? having a laugh. It's bad enough we lost our best leader for the WC, to lose one of our best players would be a travesty.

"Capello said that he felt it was in 'the best interest' of the England team that Terry was removed, with Rio Ferdinand appointed as his replacement and Steven Gerrard named vice-captain."

Can anybody explain to me how Gerrard is vice captain and in line to be captain when he beat the **** out of someone? (in pre-emptive self defense of course).

Because what you do in everyday life has little-to-no bearing on your ability to get ten other footballers to be a bit more interested in their current match?

Being a "role model" is a terrible reason to appoint a captain, and given the state of the current England squad, hardly something that's easy to find. Rio makes sense as captain, since he's one of our best defenders (on form), and well-liked by the squad.

Personally I would have left him simply as I don't think there were better candidates. Ferdinand has been struggling for form and fitness, same can be said of Gerrard.

If there was going to be a change of captaincy maybe Barry should have been considered.

it's "dances in japan".

crap choice of Captain though, he's not even smart enough to be Captain Birdseye.

B@

Whats dances in Japan??

I 100% assure you that the lyrics to Duran Durans song Rio are "Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand". Not sure what you're on about, unless its some joke referencing Rio Ferdinand and Japan and I just dont get it.

It was (primarily) for the 2002 World cup in Japan no?

Also, RIO!? How is a convicted drug offender and absolute retard any better? I

lmao.

Say again sorry?

Not at all ever convicted of any drugs offence in any way and owner of more winners medals at every level than John Terry will ever see Rio
Ferdinand?

Terry should never of been captain in the first place, is a total ****.

I wouldn't want Barry as captain as I wouldn't want Barry in the team full stop.

Yeah Barry wouldn't be in the team...I hope, so he's never going to be considered. But he's probably a lot experienced in the role than many other England Internationals!

About time the scroate got what's coming to him. Here's hoping the despicable Ashley Cole gets caught for something next.

Rio? It could be worse. He took the drugs test fiasco on the chin and has been a good lad since.
