JOKER 2: Folie à Deux

Could it be possible that Joaquin Phoenix be the first Actor to win 2 Best Actor Oscars for the same role in the original film & its sequel? I wouldn't rule it out.
Trying to think of what else is out this year, TC from Dune 2 was adequate but not Oscar worthy. Very quiet year for releases otherwise, at least Hollywood wise.

The strikes will start to bite on the release schedule.
Yep, there’s a lot of re-releases this year in the cinema filling the gaps.

There was talk of further strikes as well, all the electricians/joiners etc were wanting their cut now. Don’t know if the studios have agreed straight away or if that could still happen, but that could kill Hollywood.

Yeah the same, I dont have high expectations for this movie. Thought the first was a little overrated. It's defo not your traditional metahuman story and lean more towards psychopathic anti hero aspect of the character.

I found the first film, well, depressing. Albeit well acted and presented but just depressing. I could see the commentary on the social narrative and certain scenes were excellent in their execution but at the end of the film, I felt a vacuum of entertainment as opposed to something to take away from it. I'll watch it when it streams.

I felt the first trailers looked fine. I liked Joker a lot, I liked how depressing it was, but there wasnt a lot to go on for the vibe in the first trailers. This most recent trailer has got me a lot more excited than the earlier ones. I think the musical aspect is going to have people say that its a turn off to audiences, but I don't think people dislike musicals as much as they claim; I think there's a small contingent who hate on musical, and eveyone else just wants a good film with singing that isnt terrible (I'm looking at you Russell Crowe) or obstuctive to the plot. The cast have a track record of being able to sing, and the it doesnt look like singing will exist for the sake of it. I'd rather filmmakers swing for the fences than take the safe path everytime, and it feels like they actually care (5 years for a sequel doesnt scream 'lets rush it out')
