JOKER 2: Folie à Deux

Who has watched this, is it really that bad?
I saw it today, its not really a "musical", it has scenes featuring singing.

People have perceptions of what films like this should be about, ultimately it has tenuous links to DC stuff in that he''s called the joker, but thats pretty much where it ends bar the other Arkham based stuff. Its about mental illness, manipulation and peoples love of a character, not the person.

Its enjoyable enough, first one was better but then sequels are rarely as good.

A 'disappointing' $37.7m at the US domestic box office but heavily boosted by just over $75.4m from the international box office for and estimated $113m total so far (still getting international adjustments made hence the difference in figures).

Can the international market keep this film from being a flop or will this die off in week 2?

I try not to get too wrapped up in critics opinions etc, but I've not heard a single good thing about this movie that makes me want to spend money on a ticket to see it

^ That. Nothing is making me inclined to see it. It seems to not be particularly for people who liked the first one, it's even more ashamed of being a DC film than the first one, and this one doesn't have a great film to copy like the first did with Taxi Driver.

Seems to be generating a lot of fart sniffing "well you just didn't get it" though. Feels like a check it out on streaming special tbh.

I think after the first one people were going to avoid critic reviews, but now Joe Public are saying it’s a Turkey I’m expecting it to have a big 2nd week drop off.

Might struggle to break $250m.

I will watch this when it comes to stream. I watched the first one at the cinema but the reviews have not exactly put this on the forefront of my too see list.

I'm not sure what they were trying to achieve from this, it's as if Arthur Fleck had written the story himself. Because it's based after the first film he's restricted with what chaos he can cause as the free will is gone and we're limited to watching a mentally ill man fantasise about a relationship with some patchy singing to fill the time.

Does anyone still go to the cinema in costume for stuff like this?

Would be great to see before and after shots of their viewing... 1 happy joker, 1 unhappy joker out multiply by 600...
