Just allow club talk within threads already

Sounds like a club thread :p

You're just being petty now.

No, It's a valid point?

Sometimes you discuss topics that do include a massive chunk of what the club is or many aspects of the club. Certain debates can perfectly reasonably be expanded to include other aspects.

Why should good debate and healthy discussion be stifled?

Okay Andy look at posts 335-338 tell me what transfer rumours or speculation is taking place here?

its 10% wish list and 90% opinion on whether clevery can do this or Jones can do that. Nothing to do with actual speculation just individual thoughts and opinion. But you want to clamp down on me for the same thing? some people would like to see that simply because they dislike my opinion, not because im the only one going tangential.

Thanks for pointing them off topic posts out :)

It was nothing to do with you, it could have been anyone who posted what you did and the same action would have been taken.

Anyway, bed time for me. I think all that needs to be said, has been. I'll leave Tummy to argue it out with himself, or Rotty :D

I don't mind if people talk about Man Utd for 2 pages in the middle of a thread, obviously it'd suit a club thread more, but I just scroll down, no big deal. It seems like there's some discussions you can't have anywhere, unless you were to make a new thread for every new point that comes up in a discussion. Just relax and let things flow, if people start reporting stuff then deal with it but I highly doubt anybody here is anal enough to report a few Man Utd fans discussing their club, and if anybody is, then take an extra second looking in the mirror tomorrow morning

The transfer thread idea needed to go. It was a nice idea at the time - lets dump all the small moves/rumours in one place, but the fact is it's now the default goto for anyone wanting to talk about any possible player coming or going anywhere, so it's inevitable that it will get taken completely and boringly off-topic. Hell, the Podolski/RvP leaving/RvP staying talk that preceded the Man Utd talk was equally useless. It's not that it's not a worthy topic, it's just that it's a big enough topic that it should really get its own thread, not be space filler on something that was just intended as a side-thread in the first place.

I've been away from this place for a week or so, and as soon as I came back, I knew the transfer thread wasn't worth bothering with, because it would 95% unrelated blather and 5% actual transfer talk. Lo and behold, it was exactly that.

I understand where you are coming from and agree partially - but with players / clubs not using one fixed system, players get used in different positions and therefore any possible transfer into a club can affect any number of players already there, so its not just about who might be arriving - which therefore leads to different opinions arising

So you want seperate threads for every rumoured transfer that people want to discuss?

Unbunch your panties you lot. It was one thread.

There are probably well over 100 folks use this forum and less that 10 that don't like the way it is, as usual the majority keep quiet in these matters and that normally indocates that they are happy with things

Pretty much. We've got a whole football forum, now... what's the point in confining outselves to a handful of threads (banter/transfer rumours/the current ~matches from x to y~ thread/prediction league/whiney complaining about the mods threads from Manyoo fans!)?

Do you want me to tell you why? Because then all the rumour threads concerning United would be at the top of the forum and there would be even more complaints.

Having seperate threads for each rumour would be a disaster.

I have to agree that would lead to far too many threads

It'd only be significant transfer though - those worthy of actual discussion. The daily rumours get whacked in the transfer thread, with a comment or two attached... then if there's some huge transfer people are actually going to post about it goes in its own thread.

And how would you know what was going to generate what amount of discussion?

Either you'd have everything starting in the main thread and mods would have to split them out into their own threads if they required it (unmanageable for the mods)

Or you'd have them starting in their own threads and be combined into the main thread if there was little discussion (unmanageable for mods and would create a complete mess)
