Just been insulted by local art shop owner.

Some shop owners are within their right to refuse customers, whilst they may be prejudice with their reasoning. For all I know you could be a chav. How many tyre kickers do you think Ferrari showrooms get?

It disturbs me that so many people are so happy to jump on to the "RUIN HIM" bandwagon based on what the OP has said. It's utterly pathetic, and a lot of these people are usually the first to condemn the daily mail mob sort of responses to things.

I concur.

I'm not sure I could personally see the funny side of such incredible obnoxiousness if it were me, though if it happened to a friend I would laugh mercilessly.

I agree with a bit of ranting by proxy but to actually make moves to do something seems rather extreme.

Wow that's some hideous art, looks like it'd be more at home stretched across the double XL t-shirt of a 37 year old virgin at a LARP convention, than it would be on a wall or gallery

For what it's worth, I'd just send them an email saying you don't care for their attitude and will not be shopping there again or recommending them to any of your acquaintances.

Probs just fed up with tire kicker types.... yup he was very rude and it seems that industry attracts a lot of people like that. OP doesn't clarify whether the owner was actually wrong or not and by the sounds of it the OP simply did want to chat about the painting, find out how much its worth and probably not actually buy it.

Still it wouldn't normally make good business sense to be rude to customers like that, one day the OP might be better off and might want to buy that sort of piece... doubt the attitude from the owner is going to do much for future business. Then again maybe the owner doesn't care, has plenty of money etc...

edit - OP has named the shop... any forum posters from Cornwall should make an effort this weekend to go in and ask about the same painting :D

id leave a bad review, and nothing else
there is no way i would go begging for an apology or go back, that just looks desperate.
that said i would never enter an 'art shop in the first place. they do not have art but 'art' not my thing at all.

this would be funny however!

Not serious response..withdraw all your monies in cash. Go back in and ask again. get rejected and flash the cash as you walk out

Walking in with loads of cash, do it Dickinson's Real Deal style, keep putting £50 notes down till he says yes. Then take your cash and walk out laughing.

Unless you actually can't afford it. Then just deal with it.
