Just bought a SNES

If you think that is hard, you wait till you get to some of the later ice levels etc :o

dammit, im up to 'snow barrel blast' now. I can get past it but spinning barrel/wasp part takes all my lives before going onto the level inside the cave with the slippery ice rope things

Why was there never a Street fighter 2 vs Mortal Kombat game made? That would be great. Have the mortal kombat players all looks how they normally do and same damage effects, sounds etc, mixed with street fighter 2 turbo graphics and sounds.

X-men vs street fighter was amazing on arcade

Mugen delivers.

Also, Killer Instinct >*

Killer Instinct was awesome with it's huge combos.
I loved the soundtrack I got free with the game too

Battletoads LOL! I used to have that, I remember playing it when I must have been around 8-10. Most fustrating game ever, in fact I seem to remember chucking it somewhere. I think it was partly to blame for the short temper I have now haha!

how much did you pay OP ?

£55 inc. I mainly wanted it for good selection of games. I have since bought 2 official pads, donkey kong country, super tennis and street fighter 2 turbo
(costing £20)

£75 for an old console some might say is stupid money. Donkey kong alone i have already played for about 10 hours. Then theres all the mario kart, super tennis and street fighter tournaments

33% of Donkey kong now complete. Still loving this game, its really hard but not impossible (like some pc games) ...up to 'poison pond' on the industrial levels part

Thanks, it was Contra i was thinking about. Is Super Metroid better? I loved playing Turrican and Turrican 2 on Amiga.

What connection is SNES, it says it comes with RF cable, I take it that is supports SCART connection too. Do these come with it, i cant remember what connection are on the back of the SNES

There was Super Turrican on the SNES, it was much like the Amiga masterpieces, only more Super ;)

SNES was the best ever console, it brought the Arcade home and then had loads of deeper titles for wasting days at a time. I remember playing Secret of Mana with a mate for 6 days straight to complete it because the battery save on the NTSC cart didn't work with the PAL console and converter. Happy days.

I'll ask what I asked in the master system thread :-

Can I ask you guys why you choose to play the original console when you can get run an emulator on the xbox, providing you own the original roms, have much better gfx output like rgb scart or 480p and anti-aliasing, tonnes of other features like in game saves and get to play them on a much better joypad?

The control pad works; some of the games work better as the real thing than they do emulated, nostalgia, prefer to play them as they were (not using cheat saves), doesnt have framerate slide like the emulated ones can, cheap, as the saying goes you cant beat the feel of the original, the original control pad works fine (it was copied for the PS1 for a reason)...

Plenty of reasons.

Yes, the emulated versions have slightly prettier graphics but all in, I think if we're playing these and caring about graphics, I think you're missing the point!

ROMs aren't actually legal either.

roms are ok but nnot the same and some if not a lot mess up or wont work as like a original would.

I had a snes emulator with mario kart rom and ran on laptop through to tv and ps1 pads. Its not quite the same. There was a slight delay and the graphics would mash up and random things happen sometimes. Plus the fact you can turn on a console and its straight in, no messing around with save states, setting up rom directories, setting graphics etc, and thats after you have actually powered on the machine to the emulator window.

Not really expensive to say ive had many hours out of it already. When donkey kong is (if it is) completed i will buy donkey kong country 2
