Just bought all 3 S.T.A.L.K.E.R games...

Need to figure this out before i give up lol.

Trust me, it's very doable (starting anywhere in the game). In my case, you may have noticed that I fell down the ladder. I then decided to leg it (panicked a little), but usually if I wasn't so disorientated I would have climbed back up again because of the loot on offer.

how you finding performance on your 980ti maxxed out, i can't seem to keep vsync 60 lock enabled it keeps doing it's own thing jumping into the hundreds then back to 85 etc

I think there is a memory leak in the game. I haven't played it for over a year, but I seem to recall that my fps would gradually sink lower and lower, so in the end I disabled the odd setting / altered the switch distance in the console. At the time of my playthrough I was using a GTX570 / 7970.

I very rarely use vsync in games.

strange mission that is as the weapon is not actually there, it's carried by a bandit named friar. And to be honest he can be all over the place, sometimes at or in sterlocks hideout, the bandit base. that mission is time based tho so i'd go back to a earlier save and not accept that mission until you actually have the gun. then when you do use it until it's broken then give it him lol.You might have actually already picked it up and dropped it/broken it.

Ah ok thanks. I've probably have missed it then. I'll move on...

What its like on your x34 heartburnron, got the same monitor but with a 290, after reading this thread I think I'll install it again..

Yeah It looks great mate. No problem supporting the 3440x1440 resolution although we're talking major precision when trying to shoot enemies in the distance. Adds to the challenge though and makes it all the more satisfying when you see them drop. In terms of FPS, it seems to be locked at 75 even though V-sync is switched off. Not sure why though...

Made it out of the lab, that was fun! Couple of other questions for you veterans:

Artefacts - do they run out? For example I have the fireball equipped most of the time, should I be storing it when I don't need the radiation protection? And can I have more than one artefact equipped and do the effects stack up?

Gave up on misery, it's just far to dark 90% of the time. IMO the darkness has been overdone. Will try again with misery 2.2 when it releases

cheers have read 2.2 is not very stable and to try 2.1 if you want the experience as intended. is it self installing like complete?

Yeah, I've read that too, though I'm going to give it another go to make sure.

As for 2.1, I honestly can't remember as back then I downloaded it in individual parts...I think. If it's anything like the link for 2.2 (and I think it will be), then it's dead simple: just extract the downloaded file to somewhere of your choice, e.g. desktop, then drag the 'gamedata' folder over to your game directory. Play.

^^ Just done that and it worked fine for 2.2. Going to have to do something about that FOV though. Ugggh!

Looking forward to SGM 3.0 later this year.

yeah but you need a special suit to hold all 5 at one time. you are equipping them by dragging them into 1 of the 5 boxes under your armour arent you

Yeah I think I have the suit as I've just put 4 into the slots. What a difference it makes to how far you can run and bullets you absorb. Just starting to understand how the artefacts play in the game, wasn't expecting that but I like it.

Artifacts are one of the best parts of Stalker, especially when you really start tinkering with mods. :)

Installed and wasn't keen the Ai life mode isn't set far enough. Unless you know a way to change that. I could see ncp's but couldn't shoot them either that or they would disspear. i see no point having a sniper rifle if you can't use it lol.

SGM 2.1? No, 'fraid I don't know the command for that mod. In Misery it's called switch distance, but it didn't work for SGM when I just tried it. Try asking on the GSC forums or ask on moddb.

Edit: I think I've got it - go into your config file (in 'gamedata' folder) and alter the switch distance there. I'll post a pic of mine in 2.2.

As you can see, the switch distance is very low indeed; that's probably the issue you're having. Try raising it in +50 increments and see what value is best. I reckon you'll be looking at something from 250/300+. I think 900 is the max, though after a while I expect you'd see your fps drop like a stone if you were to employ that value. Well, that was my experience with Misery anyway. :D
