Just bought all 3 S.T.A.L.K.E.R games...

As you can see, the switch distance is very low indeed; that's probably the issue you're having. Try raising it in +50 increments and see what value is best. I reckon you'll be looking at something from 250/300+. I think 900 is the max, though after a while I expect you'd see your fps drop like a stone if you employ that value. :D

150 is default for vanilla CoP.

Misery is around 350 but I use 300, that still allows me to knock down Monolith bods at the water treatment plant from the far end of the bridge on zaton, with a DMR or KSVK and adjustable sights.

What version misery mod are you using

2.1.1

Unless 2.2 contains some major changes Ill be sticking with 2.1.1. It's the most stable version I've played going all the way back to Misery 1.0.

It's great being able to go to the Jupiter plant and only have to worry about every mutant and his dog that's in the place, and not the xray engine chucking its teddy every 10 seconds.

I recall using a GTX570 during part of my playthrough of Misery and whacking up the switch distance to 900, just to see what it was like - though in that instance I suppose it's more cpu dependent. :)

900! I admire the cut of your bravery. Highest I ever went was 600 and that just ended up as stuttery slideshow - one nil to the xray engine.

It didn't take all that long before I dropped it down. I think I eventually settled on something like 400 / 450. :)

Is there away of forwarding time or sleeping in the game? Looking to do the mission to retrieve documents at night time but not sure whether to hang around or come back later of what?

I think stalker complete mod added a sleeping bag that allowed you to sleep to forward time as one of it's many game improving additions. However i don't THINK this is possible in a vanilla install.

Thanks. I got bored waiting for night time so went for a wander to check out the base. Had a bit of fire fight then retreated back to the village when ammo started getting a bit low. I then approached the base from the side and could see through the binoculars that the whole base was outside the barrier waiting for me and poised for battle apart from one guy near the tower. So I was able to sneak in in broad daylight and get the docs. I did got spotted on my wait out but I just legged it! Awesome!

I'm trying to get inside Lab X16 and escorted the guy to get 'the measurements' for the suit to allow me in (which was a really weird & cool scene). Went back and spoke to the professor then proceeded to find the corpse next to the helicopter/swamp and head towards the lab but I didn't actually come away with a suit to let me in. Did I have to trade with the Professor to get the suit or what?

I can't quite remember, but don't you need to speak to the professor after you've checked the corpses by the helicopter?

I've been playing this again since seeing this thread. Never completed it the first time.

Just finished X16, how far through am I?

I also never finished any of them in fact they never entirely took my fancy though have given them all a fair amount of time to win me over. I think it didn't help that i was interested in other games at the time :)

Ah that must be it - I got distracted at that part as I was attacked while still listening to the audio on the corpse. Thank you once again arc@css!

Damn didn't work. Went back and spoke to the Professor but he was only offering me side missions. Wonder if the game has glitched on me as I didn't get the suit...

Dan - when did the professor give you the suit to get into X16? I successfully escorted the guy to take the measurements, went back to the professor and then found the corpse by the helicopter but didn't receive a suit so can't get in to lab X16...

I'm using complete 2009 so might be a bit different. Don't think you need a suit to get in, there's no radiation in there, you just need the headset thing.

I escorted the scientist to the bus for headset calibration
Found the chopper by the lake, hang around for a bit after the speaking and Ghosts body appears
Loot his body for the update on what happened
Head in to X16, the entrance is down a stairwell that should be accessible, there's no barrier

Ok great thanks. I tried to get in around the back, almost level with the helicopter but is had mad radiation and I couldn't pass. I'm obviously at the wrong place...
