Just dropped a deposit on some M Power - Trackday Project Car

Seems quite expensive considering you have only spent in the region of 8-9k?

Well we all thought it was expensive but I have it on good authority it's being sold at asking price and a deposit taken.

Best get mine listed at 15k and turn a profit. ;)

Bootlid is done, very happy. :)

Looking good, the LED lights should finish it all up nicely.

You're definitely doing multiple car ownership the right way :D

Just dropped some rubber stops off for the boot at the bodyshop. Boot is pretty much lined up now, bit of tweaking to do and then to be painted.:)

Better looking I think than those often fitted Meccano F&F things, or heaven forbid one of the AC Schnitzer abortions (fitted to AC e46 models whilst having a product identity crisis in the 90's).

Hi there

Uploaded one of the videos from when I was at Donny a couple of weeks ago.

Think it sounds awesome! (Apart from whirlwind nosie as window is open) :D

I'm braking very early due to boiled fluid. :(

Was at Donnington again today, went out in a few M3's:-
E46 with AP's and Rs29's
E46 with BMW performance and Rs29's
E46 with Ksports 8 pots with DS2500's

They were all far better under braking compared to mine, but the AP's really stood out, so smooth and felt like my eye balls were going to leave my head.

All the cars were all running full slicks also but all had full interiors and no cages or harnesses, though the owners were preparing to do weight reduction soon.

So time to save for some AP's. :D

Wheel bearing should be done tomorrow along with new rear lower bushes and RTAB limiting kit. :)

you gunna drop 3 grand on some aps :D or second hand ?

Can get them for about 2k brand new, but got a couple of guys looking for a set for me as I'd rather keep it close to 1k.

But after having being a passenger in several M3's running BBK, they are without doubt the best and I want the best so if needs must, I shall buy new, but anything would be better than what I currently have.

To put it in comparison, the pit straight I come off the throttle before the pitlane exit, before the blue chevrons start and am braking as the blue chevrons start.

The guys in their M3 were accelerating hard right to the point where those blue chevrons end, slowing the car from about 120ish to 70mph in what felt like a second.

I want brakes like that and the confidence they are there, as the saying goes good brakes are equal to 100BHP+ on a circuit. :)

Guys

Safety question, first check this out:-
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...ng-e46-m3-track-car/2096725?isexperiment=true

In that advert they have fitted a reat strut brace and mounted the harnesses to it. See the advert images.

That strikes me like it might not be safe simply as a strut brace might not be strong enough but its just mounted with bolts to the top mounts I imagine, not welding. Anyones thoughts on that is it OK or a bad idea?

Very bad idea, I can't see the advert but a strut brace is not harness bar.

Keep your harnesses bolted to the existing rear seat belt anchors which will be re-enforced and have spreader plates. If you have a moderate crash the forces of your body on that bar would be in the Tonnes. Once you have a cage you can use that if it has a harness bar.

Edit: I will give you a scenario. You have an accident at speed you hit a wall hard, the force of the crash bends (or snaps) the brace bar which in turn now mean your harness is slack, If you take a second impact you are ******. A second impact could be a roll, another wall hit or another car. Safety Items really are not something to skimp on, as I said before A harness without a cage (albeit better than a cage without a harness) is more dangerous than no harness :)

On another note, WTF are Hexagon smoking!

Thanks m8.

Am either gonna get a rear caged installed, gonna get some quotes or fit the best harness bar/cage I can buy which bolts to the chassis and is specifically designed for my car and being a harness bar.

Who are hexagon?

Just re-bled brakes and pedal still goes to floor, so gonna change the master cylinder next, as that is all it can be as there is no air in the system as put three bottles of fluid through it now and tried every teqnique, damn cars.

Rtabs, bearings bushings and rear led lights all done though, do master cylinder and engine oil and all ready for Saturdays RR day. :)

Porsche clutch fitting starts tomorrow hopefully. Cars!

Were the LED lights hard to get coded? I don't really understand what was required there but would love the LED clusters on my E46 as I can't stand the non LED ones.
