Just gave blood again, do you?

as a taxpayer i wish i could decide who gets donated blood ..

well i havent needed any in 30 years so the odds are i never will, so you can have peace of mind that any donations you are generous enough to make wont be going to me.

i have no problem of donating blood if they come to me or they pay my travel expenses.

Went today, really freindly in there, I was in and out without an appointment in 40 mins, only actually took me 4 mins for em to draw it :)

Feeling very good though :)

their thinking is that there is an increased occurance of HIV in the gay community and whilst all blood is tested for a wide variety of diseases (including HIV) if there has been a recent transmission (not sure on the time scale, few days I guess?) the tests do not detect it.

Which is wrong, the demographic in which the largest number of new HIV pos patients are from heterosexual young people.

It's not about actual risk, but potential risk. Anal sex is the riskiest practice for the transmission of HIV, but the questions they ask don't take in to account personal habits and risk taking behaviours.

Gay/bi Men who ALWAYS use a condom present a significantly lower risk of transmission than a heterosexual person engaging in vaginal sex without a condom.

Yes-ish.

First donation on my 29th Birthday last year. I wanted to donate every 3 months as my blood type is pretty rare (A Neg) but every time they come to my town, I'm working or have other plans. I'll get there again soon, hopefully.

I despair at this, I really do.
well some of you have really nice jobs and cars and others of us dont...

40mins busride to my nearest donation centre... probably around £4 in travel costs because i dont own a car.

some of us are feeling the pinch in our pockets during these dark times

And you never ever visit a city centre? Your town doesn't host donation sessions?

Rubbish. If you don't want to that's fair enough but your excuse isn't valid unless you happen to live out in the sticks and work from home, get home delivery and never leave the house.

tbh in most cases it takes less than half an hour from you walking into the centre to you walking out with one less pint of blood (especially if you book an appointment). When the NHS send me a text saying it has been a few months since my last donation I used to just try to look out for blood sessions around times I'll be in town. Now that I go to uni they do sessions there so it has been much easier but the NHS do sessions pretty much everywhere, shouldn't be too hard to find somewhere convenient :)
