Maybe Boris should have been allowed to buy those water cannons after all. They would be pretty effective at this time of year.

These guys are just a bunch of middle class terrorists tbh. Is Champaign terrorist a term? If someone dies from an ambulance being intentionally blocked it's basically murder.

Getting ridiculous now, as usual our gov are just sitting around with their fingers up their arses whilst blaming each other for everything.

It's just the mark of this government. They are useless and don't seem to see that the real problem in this country is THEIR divisions. I would rather have bad decisions than no decisions.

It's such a shame that so many of their followers are absolute windowlickers who shouldn't be allowed out in public as their message is actually quite decent. It just gets drowned out by the incessant waaaa from the idiots standing in roads.

No new oil, so we buy oil from elsewhere instead. JSO people are deluded

Yup, pointed this out earlier and a few JSO sympathisers couldn't really explain why importing more oil from overseas is preferable to drilling for it in our own EEZ in the North Sea?

There seems to be some knee-jerk element of the supporters/sympathisers of this group just out of general vibes re: the environment and being seen to cry out and protest for something even if it doesn't really make much sense.

People don't seem to have a sense of scale with this stuff either, especially with all the hype/doomerism, it seems counterproductive. For example, there have been claims/predictions for decades and it's probably a really bad idea to keep making specific one, Greta deleted tweets recently for example:

Unless there's a halt by 2023... well the message some may take there is that we're done for anyway now so why bother. In reality, those sorts of claims are dubious and often just hype, it's still worth doing something to reduce emissions, but it's not worth getting hysterical re: dubious campaigns where you're blocking roads to demand loft insulation and now blocking roads to, essentially, express a preference for imported oil over domestic.

Professional layabouts. Probably shared a cab from Muswell Hill.

The world is changing, it takes time

Haven't they already said that the vast majority of the oil in produced by any new UK oilfields will be sold into international markets?

Everybody just lies through their asses now anyhow, in a quite deliberate attempt to muddy the waters and hinder scrutiny.

Not all oil is exactly the same, I.E Russian oil is the best for making high grade Diesel (which is obviously causing issues right now). Selling our oil in order to buy oil that's better suited to our refining priorities works out better for us in the long run.

How does that work, exactly?

Oil we export is set to be bought mostly by the EU. Now I can't imagine the oil needs of the EU are that much different to our own. Why would they be?

Not really clear what you're asking... we extract a variety of oil (Brent crude) and lots of it is exported, what's the issue? We also import other varieties of oil, some of our refineries are better set up to process those.

Whether we keep 20% or 40% or whatever of domestic production if we didn't extract that then we'd have to import even more. How much we will use domestically vs export in say 20 years' time or whatever I doubt JSO can really say.

6 months in prison... oh dear, how sad.

To be fair it's not exactly her first rodeo, have seen this same protestor getting her face in the news at multiple JSO protests/stunts:

Should be longer

According to this article from earlier in the year she was facing three separate court cases for a total of up to 30 years including when she threw soup over Van Gogh's Sunflower painting.

I don't know if this sentence relates to any of those. But she sounds a right trouble maker and 6 months is light.

EDIT: Adding article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexandrabregman/2023/02/17/where-is-phoebe-plummer-now/

Just like if someone dies from an ambulance intentionally being delayed due to government cuts.

And Johnson did buy them, just before checking if they could be used. What a muppet.

Yea sounds like they left out a few details there.

She is going to prison for vandalism, not protesting. After the law is done with them, there will be a bunch of civil cases most likely. They will be fighting and paying them forever.
