"Just stop oil"

Just means they'll be back to their nonsense annoying the public that much sooner.

Those that have reoffended whilst already charged have not seen their sentences reduced if I'm Reading this correctly. These are still lengthy jail sentences.

I bet that's 100% about Trump and Musk and the rolling back of climate targets. If it is why don't they bugger off to the states and protest and see what sort of reception they get over there?

The environmentalists have decided, in their wisdom, to attack an electric robot built by and electric car company... Not clear what this has to do with stopping oil, it seems quite self-defeating but of course, we know their main aim here is just being lefty activists:

TBF logically oil that isn't burned doesn't damage the environment

Tesla assets and cars are being vandalised in the States. Even people who drive Tesla cars put up signs on their cars saying 'I didn't know who Musk was please don't vandalise my car' because that is apparently happening

Its happening here as well. I'm sure something was mentioned in England and Wales either end of last year or start of this but its also being 'rolled back' in Scotland as well https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3e40pe9185o

has there ever been any of these activists caught on video that don;t sound posh.

all the ones that get much press in the papers seem to have a much larger carbon footprint than the person would.

multiple jet flights a year for holidays etc

Latex is quite often a natural product, not oil based. Synthetic versions are available too.

The group purports to stop new oil, it doesn't advocate for any nuance like drill for oil still if we're using it for other products/not burning it.

And indeed, as we all saw in GCSE Chemistry lessons, the refining process would result in those fuels being created anyway - different length hydrocarbon chains etc.

Yes the group clearly isn't well thought out. Unfortunately I didn't get those GCSE chemistry classes, sounds interesting.

One thought I have had for a long time is that if global temperatures continue to rise, won't that make some parts of the world that aren't habitable or great for agriculture far more desirable than they once were?

Ah yeah, some schools offered some "dual award science" thing instead of proper science GCSEs.

Anyway here's what you missed out on ;)

That aren't habitable now (or rather are not very habitable) - yes it probably could, perhaps in places like Canada, Russia (Siberia) and Scandinavia.

I don't know if it would make them "great" for agriculture per se but it could certainly increase growing seasons if temps warmer for longer or indeed make growing more stuff feasible where it currently isn't - obvs amount of sunlight doesn't change and soil quality might not be great.

Thinking back I think it was duel Science, so they blocked me of an extra GCSE on my best subjects. Oh well.

Going back to the topic though. Crops with good irrigation, probably could still be equal or better in the tropics even with higher temperatures. Places like Iraq didn't use to be deserts, they became that way because the Monguls destroyed their irrigation networks

I'd bet money it's this, there's a bunch of anti-tesla insanity going on at the moment due to politically motivated lunatics being mad at Musk.

Examples:

It's political, and I wouldn't put it past the (often) hyper-privileged JSO virtue signallers from taking on the cause by proxy. People that are perpetually online going insane because they've nothing better to do and have been run into the ground by the constant hellscape that news and social media has become.

I don't think destroying Musk property is 'insanity'. He's personally cancelling medical care and social security, while claiming millions in public welfare, as the public debt increases.

No to mention Musk cancelling Veteran payments and making the US Gov default on debt to farmers. All of the top of my head.

Let's not forget him cancelling government contracts to his competitors and giving them to his companies.

Literally shooting at businesses and potentially killing people is insanity.

Setting fire to vehicles and vandalising peoples personal property is insanity, they don't belong to Musk they belong to individuals with no connection to him outside of a purchase, and even if they did have some form of connection it's still an utterly ridiculous way to act.

Be mad at Musk if you're politically motivated and find a healthy outlet to do so, don't attack people trying to live day to day by risking their lives and damaging their property. Do you know how many people bought Tesla vehicles to be "environmentally friendly" and in some cases many years ago? Why do those people, some of which actually even agree with the message, deserve to have their vehicles destroyed or damaged? Come on.

It's insanity, and I genuinely hope these people are caught and have to deal with the well deserved consequences.

You can claim resistance against a tyrant is insanity, but it isn't it's completely logical.
