I loved it.. Although it was long it was cohesive and gave some great character development with Cyborg. It wasnt cheezy at all and the action scenes seemed to have more impact. The final fight was superb and was made substantially more impactful with the stakes unlike the Wheadon version..

I will say though.. Joss Wheadon REALLY missed out on something.. If he wanted, he should have just kept Mera in with her original acting as it was flipping hilarious. She had definitely been watching too much Harry Potter in Atlantis.. :D

Also how good was the updated fleshed out Steppenwolf? Then even made the villain relatable. I think that was also key.

Ended up doing it in one sitting. Fantastic film, order of magnitudes better than the original.

However, I didn’t get the scene where Martha visits Lois to tell her to get on with life and then when she gets outside, she morphs into the general from MoS. How,what, why?

The general is ...
Martian Manhunter
The same person the visits Bruce at the end. The general has always been the Manhunter, even in Man of Steel

So why in MoS, when Zod invaded, did he not try to help Superman, if he himself, is a superhero?[\spoiler]

He explained at the end, he said he released he had a vested interest in Earth so he decided it was time to step up and help. Or words to those effects anyway.

I'm about a half way through and enjoying it. it is tonally quite different from the Whedon version and feels and looks good. I feel the Whedon bashing is a bit harsh. I personally can't imagine Snyder would have got a 2 or 2 1/2 hour film out that was much better than Whedon's. The first 2 hours of the new cut cover back story that should properly have been dealt with in stand alone films like the MCU. Having a chance to essentially remake the film after seeing what did and didn't work in the original is a unique and advantageous position to be in. I'm very glad that this got released because even only halfway through I can see it is much better told story but would a 4 hours film have made it to the cinema, not sure.

The original plan I remember was 2 JL movies. So its possible this would actually have been split in two parts.

I'm both a big Whedon fan and big Snyder fan and I think the MCU really benefitted from Whedon's lighter more comedic style whilst the DCEU really worked well with Snyders darker more gritty style so I never understood why WB decided to replace "Mr Dark and Gritty" with "Mr Light and Funny" and then still expected the film to work.

This was a massive improvement. Tonally a completely different movie and the fleshing out of Cyborg, Wonderwoman and Aquaman was great. Also Flash was not just comic relief. 9/10 vs 5/10 for me.

well if 4:3 didnt make it bad enough the next fail planned is to remove the colour. i mean come on 4:3 black and white would be prime back in 1940s.

The Imax dimensions worked fine at 65" :p

The whole final battle scene was just SO much better, no stupid car-alarm-batmobile lure, no "killed because his axe was scaring all the bug demons", and better integration of the other heroes, especially Barry.

Also, given that the original came out before Aquaman, I didn't realise that it would have been hella confusing to people who watched the original release (whereas we had already seen Aquaman at this point).

I'd give the first a 5, and the second a 7 (would have been at 8 if they shaved off some of the music/montage bits).

Flash had two of the best looking scenes. I think in the tunnel with the flashes and the multiple silhouettes of him bouncing all over the place, and him using the speedforce to travel back a few moents and the plent rebuilding itself around him with the music was stunning.

I thought 4:3 would be offputting but didn't notice after the first few minutes.

A little bit cheesy in parts with some questionable music and acting but overall it was fairly enjoyable for a 4 hour sitting.

iv not watched it yet a quick flick though some scenes and i thought something was not right being 4:3. dunno if i should watch or wait for a Wyder cut?

I was just glad that really cringey "just save one person" scene was gone.
