Kerbal Space Program

I've been playing a lot with SSTOs recently, so I think I might revisit Laythe and play :)

Yeah an SSTO plane was my original plan but the docking port with the transfer stage was too weak so it flopped everywhere and made burns impossible. I thought about strutting them together but then once I undocked, landed on Laythe and was on my way back home it'd be impossible to do burns again to get back.

In saying that, inspired by a YouTube video I've been experimenting with tiny, oxidiser-less SSTOs using a combination of airhogging and RCS. One of these would probably be light enough to not flex at the docking port, but rendevous is difficult with only RCS to burn.

An been subject to an NDA.

But you're not now, right? So you're free to tell us everything you know, right? Right?! :p

Seanoog, you really ought to try something like novapunch combined with the procedural fuel tanks mod just to get the part count down

Thanks Reaper. But I am a purist, partitally as I enjoy the challenge of building massive stock ships, an also from an easy of use aspect, as it makes testing much easier (as mods don't always work well, with new Experimental Builds.)

Sadly not. :p
But I was on Reddit, an noticed this. So should give you a snippet of what to expect in the new update.

I do have some pictures, I'd love to share now, but I'd breach my NDA. So I'll just wait for the new release, an then I'll post them. :)

Trying to build a rocket using the tier 0 parts which can do anything substantial will be interesting.

I *really* wish saved craft would also save the crew slots too. I fly a lot of craft with crew compartments unmanned using probe cores and every flipping time I change something on the craft the game seems to automatically fill the first crew compartment, which means that before every launch I have to manually clear the crew roster again.

Just landed on Laythe with my SSTO, took a few attempts to find a sensible landing spot, but I'm pretty chuffed. Am back in orbit, now waiting for my transfer stage to catch up with my SSTO to go home.

I reckon that even without decouplers you might be able to get into orbit, but not much else. i cant find it right now, but i'm sure that there is a list of the maximum delta-v's of the engines, or at least a way of calculating it. The solid rocket boosters are pretty good for heavy lifting too

I also have a couple of ideas on how to go even further with the basic stuff that is very well suited to the ksp ethos

you can see some of them in the video i posted. you only get the smallest of the multi sized fuel tanks, the LV-T30 engine and the small solid rocket booster from what i remember of the fuel/engines category

New mode looks great to be honest. Makes it easier for beginners because they gradually build up in the game and aren't flooded with parts to choose from, but also great for us Vets because we have something to do. :)

I can only conclude from this weeks ksp weekly, that 0.22 will be released today at some point, maybe even when brazil hits midnight in 3 or so hours.
