Just hopped on to the unofficial KSP TS3 server while I was downloading it. Everyone is too engrossed in the game to talk. :p
 
So what does other players think of the new 0.22 Build?

Great fun. I don't care that once you've unlocked all of the parts it's essentially 0.21 again, it's just nice to actually have some things to do once you land on something.

It's also a nice challenge to have to start building things without fuel lines and struts again!
 
Im realy struggling to return from the mun. With so few parts, especially no fuel feed pipes.

Edit mun & minmus done with kerbals, sending probe to duna now.

I really want to complete GTA V before jumping back into this but seeing that the update is live, I might have to have a little play over the weekend.
 
I only managed to get a quick play around with it last night so I just stuck to sandbox mode and launched bits at the Mun. I will give career mode a go tonight.

Anyone got any advice?
 
Is anyone else finding that getting science is a little bit too easy? I've only done three flights, none of which were very spectacular, and i've already unlocked a significant amount of the parts. First flight was a simple orbit, second was a mun landing and then i went out of kerbin's SoI for a while to do a bunch of experiments, the last of which got me ~700 science and what i seem to remember being a lot of the parts

If anything I'm having the opposite problem, I have done about 8-10 flights around Kerbin and have very little science to show for it. I'm trying to get to the Mun but my rocket design skills seem to be rather lacking.

Yea, the tree is also retarded, but its the first release, I expect they spent far more time on the underlying stuff than on the tree it self. Theres all ready a tree mod.
Started again win8.1 fresh install.

First flight was just capsule, crew report, ground sample and planted flag so i know exactly where ksc is from orbit, that was more than enough to unlock a tier.

Second flight was orbit and mum orbit. That unlocked about 4 things.

Third flight I'm going for a mun landing.
 
They need to sort the fps issue out to be honest, im not really bothered about more content until they sort they engine out properly. Im building my first giant ship to trek me round planets, but the fps being so low is a massive problem.
 
The problem is that Unity cant take advantage of multiple cores, so as you increase the part count the complexity goes up exponentially (possibly even factorially). More cores would definitely help matters but even then if you have an 800 part monstrosity then it will kill the physics engine because all the interactions between those parts have to be calculated.

The best ways to get around the problem is to use mods with bigger parts (like procedural fuel tanks and novapunch) or to launch your rockets up in stages and put it together in space, since the majority of the part count is from the parts used to get the rocket into orbit

Its not relay a problem, unless its massive.

And as above its a limitation of unity pure and simple, so either they change to one of the modded unities/add ons however it works. Or you'll have to deal with it, or get a fast CPU (but faster single core). This is where over-clocking is probably worthwhile. Which is rare these days.
