So i had a play with them, the Sparrow is certainly an interesting one to fly but the one i've spent the most time with is the Bell. I think it's amazing that something so simple can not only get up to, but also cruise fairly well at 1.5km/s. The fact that it can get half way around the planet in minutes makes me wonder about the possibility of using it as a rescue plane, but for two things. Firstly, i don't really understand how it works. Most of my attempts to create something similar haven't gone anywhere due to air intake deprivation. And also, it is quite hard to fly. I guess it's to be expected with no avionics or control surfaces, but once you get up past 15k if it starts rolling there's not really much you can do about it, especially considering you have to more or less constantly adjust trim as well.
Honestly the (SI) BELL: Was a prototype craft, designed simply; To be basic.
An sadly it's one I rarely use, simply because it can't land, an cant go faster than the (SI) EXCALIBUR.
PermaBanned. Is it the (SI) BELL specifically your having the control issue's with, or your recreated version?
I hid a Avionics ASAS unit, inside the Pod + Two Air Intakes, within the Fuel Tanks. By using the NO CLIPS with-in the SPH (CTRL + F12)
That is the only reason (SI) BELL Flies...
Also in my personal testing, I have struggled or shy away from designing aircraft, that utilize a Main Body too lift a smaller Payload craft. I have found it highly inefficient. An some times difficult, to factor for the changing weights + Thrust, profiles of mating two craft together.
But I do stress NOT always, for example the (SI) ALBERTROSS, is a great example of mating two craft together.
An please remember I Test + Fly all my Rockets + Planes with a Joystick, so there balanced accordingly.
If you wish to get good at AirCraft creation, I can only recommend Trial + Error, its not like your Kerbals with complain.
