Kerbal Space Program

You put the engines all in the first stage. You then house the explosive struts (what ever they are called) in the second stage.
So stage 1 all engines epignite, stage two typos blow the explosive strut things and the empty solid fuel booster fall off.

I've made it to the moon!

The landing was a little bumpy.... :o

Note to self: need more fuel for braking.

Wahey! Made it by the skin of my teeth, and though the sections started breaking up the crew are alive. I think Bob has realised there's no way to make it back though!

For anyone who has done it before: any tips on how to stabilise the lander when it is touching down? There don't seem to be any legs in the stock parts, and I'm trying to keep to those at the moment. Someone has suggested radial decouplers which is what I'm going to try, but I'm skeptical.

on the kerbal forums, look for "Intrepid II" Its a Aries1 copy, but includes a good moon lander on the top. Its the only way i can land. Ive landed and come back 3/4 times with that totally fine. Its "too easy" with it, but untill they fix the FPS bugs i cant really use standard parts to get there (0.5fps for first 10minutes of flight make it hard to control!)

Fun LP if anyone's interested:

Keep coming back to this, but it's so irritating when you can't move the camera. I just about managed to get into a highly elliptical orbit. Downloading .13.1 on the off chance that it will fix it...

Well 13.1 is the last free update :(, however I will be giving them $7 as this game will be immense. But I bet they still have a year or so of devlopment left.
1.31
New on 0.13.1:
* Recompiled on the latest version of the Unity engine, to add multithreaded rendering support and better memory management.
* Changed the Fuel Line flow direction, so fuel will flow from the first-placed end of the line to the second end.
* Holding Ctrl and clicking on a part on the ship at the VAB will now automatically flip the parts list to the selected part's page.
* Added in-game credits.

Bug Fixes:
* Fixed the custom part sounds loading system, which wasn't working on the last release.
* The part loader will no longer freeze if it cannot find a part module to load. It will load the base Part module, and make it visible but unavailable on the VAB.
* Removed parent-wise fuel crossfeed from Radial Decouplers. Fuel Lines made that obsolete.
* Fixed an issue that prevented attachment nodes from affecting connected part rotations properly.
* Fixed an issue with the part loader, which would crash if a binary mesh was found, but no .dae or .obj file was present.

Next update 1.4
Hi,

Finally, it's time to announce what we will be working on these next few weeks.
As you may know already, this update is the first of the full version of KSP. That means you'll need a pre-order to get it.
That also means we want to add something big to the game, so we're not going to stick to the usual 4-week cycle on this one. It will probably take longer, but we want this update to make a difference.

So, without further ado, these are our main goals for the 0.14 update:

New:
* Flights are regularly saved to file, to be resumed later. (yes, persistence )
* The Tracking Station Facility at the Space Center, allows you to select and resume a flight in progress.
* Support for multiple simultaneous flights.
* An integrated game update system, so you don't have to redownload each time there is a new update.
* And some other stuff.

Bug Fixes:

As always, entries in green are already implemented, and we'll add stuff to this list as more features are completed.

godda love KJM! he's epic.
just downloaded this but it's not working on my linux laptop.

Agree with you there, one of the only LPers who can hold my attention :p

I've got it working in Wine, are you getting an archive error? Because i looked on the forum and apparently that's to do with their servers being hammered, if you have a look around somebody put a mirror up which works for me.

As for how well it works in Wine? Well, most things do. Perfectly well. But the deal-breaker is the camera. You can mouse click all the options, but as far as moving the camera around goes you can't do anything. It's alright to start with, and you can get crafty and make massive rockets in stages then connect them together in reverse. But eventually the inability to see what you're doing does get really frustrating...

Were it not for that i wouldn't hesitate to donate. But i'd really like some indication that this bug can be fixed.

Well i just managed to return them all safely home from this:

Lovely dawn sea landing:

Really don't see how i can improve on this without being able to move the camera :/

managed a nice stable orbit, i then got a little ahead of myself, instead of returning my kerbals home, i aimed for the mun... didnt get it quite right, if i left it running they would probably be half way to the sun.

That's fantastic, I've been hoping for that for a while! They definitely deserve the $7.

I can't even get into orbit lol

When I was having trouble doing that I found the first part of this tutorial handy. The majority of the Transfer Orbits section is over my head though, I've found pointing the ship in the right direction, slamming on the jets and hoping works quite well! :D

Great fun this game is, pre-ordered less than a day after i tried it. Still havent got round to trying to get to the moon yet though
