***kickstarter***

I agree about the lightbulb :p. It seems like more effort the grab your phone and open the app than it is to just flip a switch to me.

I can't stand his sales pitch either. "You can do things you've NEVER done before". That's because I didn't care.

I've never used mushrooms to hammer nails in. Doesn't mean it would be a good idea.

Ahaha :p. I had a friend who wanted a TV because you could use your iPhone as a remote with it. It begged the question "Why not just use the remote...?". Some things are just so pointless with most of them involving smart phones these days that "Make life easier" which ,of course, they really don't...

Really?

Easier to get out of bed and walk over to the switch then walk back to bed than picking up the phone that's probably right next to you?

I like the idea but at even the kickstarter price point it's steep for a small amount of convenience.

I backed Planetary annihilation and thinking of backing nexus 2.

Fiddling around with phone apps is a pain in the arse. I'd sooner just get up and flick a switch. It's not like we haven't survived without this facility.

Most modern tvs have an app.
The better apps have the ability to use the keyboard when websurfing on the tv.
There is some use to it.
Additionally, a universal app remote for controlling a br dvd pcr and tv on one app can be handy.

The last thing I want to do is fumble around with a phone to control my lights. I don’t want to be a geeky nerd online entrepreneur so I’ll pass on kickstarter just as I have done on a few other occasions. :p

You do know that it functions exactly like a normal lighbulb aswell?

Well, I'm out.

me to..

4 of those light bulbs still left that room fairly dark...

not all fluorescent bulbs are that horrible yellow colour only the cheap ones.

if i wanted remote control light bulbs i would simply change the switch not the whole bulb to an "energy efficient" bulb that probably takes a lot more to make and costs a hell of a lot more and by the end of it has a larger carbon footprint anyway

I can see Kickstarter going down the pan in 6 months time when projects start to disappear that were promised due to scams.

As far as I can see anyone can go along and make up a page claiming they have X product. There is no accountability if the product never appears and users don't get a refund. Unlike the real world, people can just vanish with the money and that's that.

I can see it working at the moment, but give it time for the eBay scammers to move across and in 6 months time when stuff doesn't show up the news articles will be different. Even a lot of genuine businesses fail so its a big risk investing!
