***kickstarter***

That's the good thing, by backing you get access to all the updates etc, and can cancel at anytime before the end date.

I've cancelled n a number of projects after not being satisfied with their response to questions.
You also have to remember this is only a few days in. So plenty if time to reply. Kickstarter campaigns are a massive amount of work. It does take time to respond, make videos etc.

Calling BS on that printer.
You have to have the phone in airplaine mode, which disables all communication, including wifi and bluetooth. How on earth is the phone communicating with the printer?

Way too goo to be true and has allot of holes in it which the creaters are not answering.

According to their time scales they are well out of Prototyping and gearing up for Production, so these questions from peple should have been answered.

Yeah, reading through the comments makes me think its total BS. Almost no actual footage of the device working, lots of unanswered questions.

Totally cordless, just 4x AA. So it can't be communicating with the phone at all.

Indeed, otherwise how could you use WiFi on board a plane?

Exactly, a bit of a jumped to silly point, what phone can you turn stuff on.
Both ep and ios let you do it and by common sense android will to.

You don't want phone calls and other notifications poping up as they'll have stuff on the screen.

This is why you have to be careful of Joe blog comments

Oh dear what nonsense.
Go turn you phone to plane and turn Bluetooth on, you do realise it's been up for just 5days. If you have ever read and watched videos from other Kickstarter projects you'll know how much hard work and time it takes, there is plenty off time for them to respond, and there's plenty of time for me to pull out if I'm not satisfied.

One thing though, I won't be pulling out as people are making idiotic statements about airplane mode.

Having read through it and assuming the photo-resin stuff actually exists, then I don't really see any technical problems with it.

The way it "grows" the print as well should lend to it being really good quality finished product, stuff I've seen previously is obviously layered which detracts a bit from it.

Lots of printers are based on photo resin. That's not the issue.
Two technical issues I'm worried about are.
Focusing the light and does a phone screen produce enough light to activate the resign.

Most cheap resign printers use a projector and expensive ones lasers.

It's still layered, but resign printers can be many times thinner slices that pla printers.

You know litterally as much about this project as anyone else, stop trying to act like your some sort of authority.

Haha, I don't need to know anything about the project to know I can turn WiFi, Bluetooth etc on when in airplane mode.

Congratulations.

That doesn't answer the question.

It's entirely possible its effectively a "dumb" device. It just raises the base at set intervals based on the app having defined pauses at those intervals. I.e. one layer takes 5 minutes, so the device waits for 6, then moves. The app turns the lights off for a minute to wait for the printer.

But the point is, this isn't explained. The Kickstarter is full of stuff but lacking in detail.

I too have backed the OLO, I have a problem when it comes to 3D Printers, lol. I have 3 (4th in bit) now :-).

This tech is actually already available and uses a LCD screen rather than the phone and uses the same resin details here http://www.photocentric3d.com/

The OLO kickstarter has had an update and now has an FAQ section.

J.

I've cancelled olo. the tech obviously works, they showed it off working at maker faire(al though the blue ribbon means nothing).

however I have no faith in them actually being able to deliver that many units at that price. by the time they produce those many units. China will have copies out way before anyway.
and if you want something now just get a Fabrikator Mini now. £130 from hobbyking.
