** Kingdom Come : Deliverance 2 **

What works for me in combat:

- always keep an eye on the shield icon so you can block, don't overreache and spam attack or block
- attack, but keep your eye on stamina, when it's down you'll get the most damage (I think NPCs cheat and their stamina doesn't go down - at least at the same level as yours, when injured)
- when more than one enemy, always back down and retreat (walking backwards) and fight like that so you don't get surrounded
- eliminate the weakly armored first or the dogs/wolves
- get the skills required from the skill tree for your build.

With the exception of the usual RNG/RPG crap statistics, it will work fine for the majority of situations.

Of course there's always the plot armor NPC that will fight better just with its hands than with a weapon! :))

Adding to this. Mutt makes a massive difference as he either distracts one or two enemies when fighting a group, or if fighting one person he'll distract them and you can just attack them from behind.

Edit: Beaten to it!

I'm really struggling to get along with the main quests early on, I keep coming out of them feeling like I made the wrong choice. I don't feel there is as much "freedom" as the first game.

The one I replied to said Witcher 4 was coming this year :p

Ah here we go, long post incoming :D

No long post, I listed a bunch of AAA games and even caveated that some may slip for release but you picked one single game from the list the even tried to say console games don’t count.

I only pointed out that it’s too early to call this GOTY unless you mean at a personal level.

Correction. I picked 2 games.

Witcher 4 will slip 2025 date by at least a couple of years

But you still chose to use it in your comment to make a point

Don't make me dig out the shovel comment again! :D;)

Why are you all saying that the Witcher 4 will slip the 2025 date? It hasn't even been given a release time frame at all.. all they have shown is that pre-rendered footage to show it's in production

ICDP is the only one doing so

He is good at pointing out others errors. Never wants to see his own ones :p

Witcher 4 is 2027 game at the earliest.
Witcher remake might make it out in 2026 but even that is doubtful.

Narrative director of Witcher 4 has praised KCD1 and 2 multiple times on X btw. I hope Witcher 4 will be inspired by it for its world/NPC simulation.

Did I miss another post? The one I replied to was this one. Now I actually posted that I assumed you meant for you personally and then gave a reason why it was too early to make those assessments.
Yes you did. i meant it has potential game of the year

Broke my rule for the first time in a few years, and bought this whilst I still have a massive backlog. Really, really enjoying it and this is my sort of game.

I imagine I might struggle with the difficulty, but need to get good anyway as there's lot of difficult games I need to play too.

So after getting better gear (sword, armour and shield), spending a little bit of time with Tomcat and getting Mutt back the game is starting to be a bit more enjoyable.

Getting better gear really should be the first task for anyone in this game and indeed any RPG. Especially in a game with such “nuanced” combat. If you are beelining from the first town down to TomCat you will be lucky to make it past a small pack of wolves if you encounter them.

Glad to hear you are getting more fun from the game. I do enjoy the RPG element and found the first 3 or 4 hours quite a chore. But once you get into the more open world parts, that’s when it starts to become more enjoyable.

Still hardly touched the main story, have been doing side quests and playing dice for the most part. Have a feeling I'm a wee bitty over levelled now at lev18. :D

The skill system reminded me of Morrowind (etc.) at the start and that seems to have been confirmed so far. Some skills are far easier to level by just playing than others.
Houndmaster seems extremely easy to level by feeding and praising Mutt.
Horsemanship is also shooting up quite fast as I've not been fast travelling and exploring a lot.
Thievery and Alchemy shot up after playing 'normally' for me. Stealth takedowns and a bit of potion making for save and healing pots. Think it's been mentioned but the ###FOX### pot is kinda amazing at max pot level.

Anyone know what this references? Harry Potter or something?

Closing some quests and getting some groschen helps too.

I also found that being over encumbered can be a good thing. I leveled up quite a lot of stats hauling gear around (slowly) to go to sell it or store it.

my issue with selling stuff is, the merchant carry about 500 groschen. Like, I got helmets and cuirass’ coming out my ears and unable to sell them all at once!
