Can anyone confirm that lockpicking gets easier, or do you actually have to get better at the twirling / following combo ?

As you level up your picks become stronger, or you break them less easily. At level 13 I don't even try, rattles around all day long never breaks.

Take the drunk perk for lockpicking, as there's very hard chests everywhere that you won't be able to pick without it (I couldn't pick the shop cabinets until I chose this perk).
 
Hmm the lock pick action no longer has the gold marker. It's just an empty ring. Disappeared after a mission cutscene...makes lock picking rather noisy.

Edit: three reloads and no gold circle. On the fourth try it's back!

Have about 29 hours gameplay logged now and am loving the game but am now at the point that a lot of people have got to where the bugs are just getting in the way and ruining the experience. First it was the bird catcher mission that you can't complete if you save the game before handing over the birds. Then today I got stuck on a bridge behind my horse and could not move at all, I even tried thumping it up the arse several times until it eventually keeled over but I still couldn't move so had to revert to a saved game (and saved horse). Shortly after that I entered some archery tournament where the guy took my wager money, two women turned up to compete against me and did nothing but complain about how I shouldn't be walking around with my weapon out (phnar) and they never fired a shot between them, I walked over to the archery master to see what the issue was and he told me I'd forfeited the match and lost my money because I'd moved away from the target before the match had finished.

I think I'm going to hold out for 1.3 before playing any more and maybe start a new game, fingers crossed we'll have the patch soon.

Anyway, talking of the game, but mainly graphics for now, I've finally got around to testing it out properly.

Aside from performance tweaks which will leave for another time, I've been working on getting the game looking as nice as possible using Reshade (but without impacting performance too much).

Below is my current (work in progress) Reshade config file settings. Note this is whilst using the e_VolumetricFog=1 setting (via a user.cfg file) and mainly using Lift Gamma Gain to counteract the slight washed out result that e_VolumetricFog=1 gives, and DPX to add some subtle pop, slight colour warmth and other stuff. The game looks quite flat and 'dulled' without using reshade. I've also added a very subtle context sensitive depth of field effect. Please note this is based on my calibrated monitor so as ever, other end user opinions may vary, but if anyone fancies trying it out and letting me know your thoughts, would be good...

I thought I was happy with the vanilla look until I started my Reshade. I then personally found the vanilla look too much like an unprocessed RAW image or a flat log video look (which is actually a great base to start tweaking from!)

My reshades are always quite subtle, I take a photographer's approach and use Reshade like I use Lightroom to just enhance what's already there, not a blunt hammer instagram filter approach like a lot do. Also, if you use the e_volumetricfog=1 tweak it washes it out even more so needs bringing back a touch.
