Knife Attack in Germany

So who did the stabbing?
Was it as expected?

How come we never hear of migrants from Libya, we ruined their country but they don't seem to come to the EU, we barely touched Syria.

seemed like it was ISIS vs Syria, but we labelled them as freedom fighters because we hate the dictator and would rather see him gone.

Oh by the way we didn't arm or support isis and never labeled isis as freedom fighters, I'm sure you can post something by the government that says we did ?

Although Libya did have a civil war it was like a skirmish compared to what happened in Syria. And blaming the West for what happened there really isn't true. People had had enough of Gadhafi and his regime, it was always going to happen at some point.

Do we honestly believe that what has replaced Gadhafi is better than him? It's like Saddam was the untold death and destruction really worth the so called democracy we have achieved. I'm neither Libyan or Iraqi but looking at it as distant as an observer it seems highly questionable to me.

They were both aging men. It was going to happen at some point and usually when they go chaos follows. I'm trying to defend what happened in Iraq, it was a complete **** show by the Americans.

I’m not suggesting carry on as we are, but the idea of always thinking it’s “them” and never “us” is also incorrect.

The crux of it is that when you go around the world fighting everyone for the past couple hundred years, the rooster comes home eventually. And then you have had your fingers in so many pies…one of them will come back.

Without going into the specifics of individual cases, there will be times when countries need to pursue a non-neutral foreign police to protect its interests and broader global security. It’s inevitable that this will please some people more than others. There is no policy that doesn’t risk offending someone, even if the policy is do nothing.

It must be possible for a country to persue its own foreign policy without risking innocent citizens being subjected to brutal murders in their own country by people who have been invited here.

The priority must be protecting citizens, and it’s clear that’s becoming very difficult given the diversity of interests.

So you've got to go back 15 years to find a terror incident by a right winger.

No there was Joe Cox's murderer was also a right wing terrorist. Technically the riots a few weeks back could be considered terrorism.

In the UK in 2017 a far right terrorist mowed into a group of people leaving a mosque in London. In 2018 police revealed four far-right terror plots had been foiled since the Westminster attack in March 2017

In Finland this year, the Nordic Resistance Movement committed racially motivated stabbings

In 2020 2 mass shootings happened in Germany by a far right extremist

In 2018 in Italy, a neo Nazi shot 6 African immigrants

In 2018 in Latvia, a follower of Anders Behring Breivik planned to carry out an attack on ethnic minority schools and shops

In 2019, in Norway a Neo Nazi shot up a mosque. No one was killed but it was clearly attempted murder

In 2017, a refugee centre was bomber. In 2015, a far right terrorist committed a mass stabbing killing 3 and wounding 1 other.

Scholz looks like he wants to go harder on immigration and deportations now

Does it really look like that? Because the link you provided makes no mention of Scholz wanting to go harder on immigration and deportations.

He seems to have said "We will have to do everything we can to ensure that those who cannot and are not allowed to stay in Germany are repatriated and deported," and "This was terrorism, terrorism against us all,".

Could it be you've misinterpreted and/or conflated immigration with irregular migration.

Who's we? The US claim to own most of Syria and take much of it's oil. Wikileaks shows us that the US supported ISIS taking over Syria. Obviously that may not be British policy, but we don't act in a vacuum. I'm pretty sure if ISIS moved into your town, you'd flee sharpish. The average Syrian is going to do the same thing

Apologies, yes it was irregular immigration, but he does want to speed deportations up now

Mr Scholz also said his government would have to do "everything we can to ensure that those who cannot and should not stay here in Germany are repatriated and deported" and that deportations would be sped up if necessary.

Where's Angela Merkel when you need to throttle her. ;)

Just wondering but what would should she have done in your opinion? There was a crisis in southern Europe with refugees. Syria was 4 years into a civil war plus ISIS were rampaging through it murdering civilians. Understandably those civilians were fleeing a war zone and ISIS, many went to the likes of Jordan but many came north. Something had to be done, they couldn't be sent back and southern Europe countries were at breaking point.
