Korean Grand Prix 2011, Yeongam Circuit - Race 16/19

5 place grid penalty in India and a reprimand for Petrov.

Personally think thats a little harsh - but not unexpected.

It wasnt malicious, it wasnt particularly dangerous (it looked far worse than it was ever likely to end up) and MS himself had a very philosophical way of looking at it , as he "caused" a few accidents in reverse vs Petrov probably

Maybe if some of the locals turned up to watch the race then it might be a bit less so.

They also need to sort that pitlane entry. Whoever designed it was on crack.

Seemed to be quite a few in the stands? Although most were probably handouts.

The pitlane is a giant accident waiting to happy, as is the final turn with all that rubber on the outside!

Could we be looking at the greatest driver of all time?

Very Good yes but the best...no, not until we have seen him win a good handful of races or even be in contention for a championship in a lower end car perhaps a Force India or Torro Rosso, not in the best and fastest car in the field. but that's my opinion.

None of the champions currently racing have been in contention in a lower end car. They've all won their championships in the best car at the time

If anything Vettel showed how good he was when he drove the Toro Rosso earlier in his carreer ;)

I am sorry to be so blunt but this is a daft idea and one that is often made on this board about Vettel. No driver would be challenging for the championship in a FI or TR. The cars simply aren't fast enough and no driver could make up that difference in performance.

I would be interested to hear what people who use this argument to attack Vettel would say about Hamilton's performance this year? Far from being in slow cars like the FI or TR he is in the 2nd fastest car on the track and yet he was nowhere near challenging for the WDC. Does this mean he is only an average driver?

When Lewis won the WDC it was the second best car ;)

Vimto is a one lap wonder in the fastest car in F1 if you put paul di resta in the rb he would win.

Remember both McLaren's had major understeer for majority/all of the race which is also massaging those figures to look better for RB

They were still dominant, and fully deserved the win but it isnt necessarilly as much time difference as you suggest either imo

Exactly they still have to build a car to go as fast as them without hideous oversteer or tyre wear issues. It's not simple to close the 2 tenths people seem to exist. It's larger than that as shown by Vettels last lap.

You're also forgetting the gap would have been much larger without the safety car. Although likely it wouldn't because they would have carried on managing a comfortable gap.

I honestly don't believe the Brawn was not the best car for the majority of the season. Had Vettel been more agressive in the early races he should have taken atleast 2 of Jensons wins off him and by silverstone the Brawn wasn't the best car. Vettel should be a 3 time world champion. I'm not convinced Alonso had the bets car when he won one of his either.

Of course the best overall package always wins though :)

I'd be willing to eat one of JRS's hats if Red Bull isn't the class of the field again. Even with the small changes Newey reacts better than anyone else on the grid to changes. This has been showed time and time again. Him and his team just get it right.

Then when the big changes come the only question mark will be the engine, he will nail the car changes better than anyone. Where as Mclaren build an average car and throw god knows how much on it to get it right.

Ferrari should just go and get Brawn back and call him whatever he wants to get him in the role, Italian Prime mininster, technical god or pope.

I hope he sorts his frame of mind out by next season and just gets on with driving.

isnt that exactly what he has done this weekend?

stuck it on pole no dramas, pole doesnt get points so no need to get over excited.

got on with it, came 2nd, beat his team mate and drove a great race.

do you want him jumping for joy over everything that happens, screaming down the radio "yes boys!" when something happens?

i really expected button to come at webber with all the tire saving he did just keeping in touch, but he couldnt get close to make a move. hamilton did just as well keeping the tires in check while having webber hound him for nearly half a race.

very suprised ferrari didnt let alonso past massa so early on, he would have been on the podium i think.

shame about schui being taken out, i think he would have finished ahead of rosberg with how rosberg ended the race.

Once again I turn on the TV just in time to be told that Vettell has won, great... My fault for being a lightweight I guess. So no point in bothering with the full race replay. Judging by the iplayer highlights though, there was only a bit of Mr. Happy and Webber tussling, plus Petrov trying to drive straight through Schumacher (:D). So perhaps I didn't miss much after all.

No, I don't believe he has. He's 50% of the way there, ill give you that. He got on and drove well. But I don't think anyone can argue that his mind is in the right place. Even he has admitted that this weekend.

More good qualys and drives like he had this weekend would be great for the rest of the season, but I want my happy, cheeky Lewis back. Not some sulky person like he's been for a few weeks.

Apart from that awesome fight with Hamilton and Webber through sector 2, today's race was fairly uninspiring I thought. I guess it's because Vettel won by a country mile and didn't really fight for that P1 at turn 4. But hey-ho...

Glad Hamilton had a strong race and showed that he still knows how to drive fast and race aggressively without making contact. Would have been sweet if the McLaren had the pace to fight the RB and see Hamilton come out on top.

So why isn't Webber finishing second in every race? If we put Di Resta in Hamiltons seat would you expect him to score more points than Hamilton?

Webber already said a few races back he can't get used to the tires like he could the bridgestones
i.e F1 drivers could push the car till the end of the race because bridgestone tires lasted these new ones are crap imho

Hamiltons car is a bit of a dog but he drives the ass off it like he did today.
Now if vimto was in the mclaren car he would be mid field by the end of the race.

As for Paul I think he would do well as he is a RACING driver like Lewis and Paul will be a WDC one day.

Who on earth is "vimto" Judging by your comments I'd guess it can only be Vettel.

It's bad enough people calling Alonso "Fred" (since when was Fernando the Spanish equivalent of Fred?) but "Vimto"? Seriously?

Good race, lots of racing though out the field. Really thought mclaren would be stronger :(

DSR again a joke of a push to pass button for many many overtakes.

To be honest, judging by today's race, if the Red Bull wasnt the fastest car out there, then it must be agreed that Webber is as fast a driver/if not better than Hamilton,Button and Alonso e.t.c as he was clearly faster.
