I don't get it tbh... he seems annoyed at others having a different take but he's just venting... I mean I don't think anyone has said it was a great idea for a 17 year old kid to be out with an assault rifle after 2 nights of rioting but he's acting as though that is what people have claimed with all these "batman" comments and talking past people re: "vigilante = bad, why are you defending him" blah blah etc...
Reality is a bit different, fact is no one was supposed to be there are there probably is a self defence argument, arguing against that point involves, well explaining why there isn't... but seemingly he can't do that so throws in waffle about batman instead and makes a show about how he's ignoring people.
Maybe more people would have been killed by a building being set on fire. Arson quite often kills people. Maybe the people he shot would have killed someone else, maybe more than 1 person. No way of telling.
Yeah the thing is we've actually also seen a video of what happened ourselves, it's not like we're taking what he's saying in isolation, his views basically match what we've seen. There's no chance this kid gets found guilty.
I think I caught the tail end of this on Reddit - first thoughts were "holy **** that looked like a couple of murders", but the first video didn't show what happened clearly enough - just the aftermath of the guy getting hit in the head, and the efforts to save him.
When the shooter was running away, and was about to get lynched, I suspect the second person killed would be classed as 'justifiable homicide' (think that's a term the Yanks use) as he did so in self defense. But then this lad got up and started popping off shots at people - assuming he wasn't just firing over them as a warning.
But it's easy for me to sit in a comfy chair posting my zero-experience-of-this opinion. Personally, I think the US is ****** right now, and it is mental that people, on both side of the argument, can go out armed to the teeth. I guess it was only time that this sort of thing were to happen.

It's a bit sad that no matter what the subject if its just remotely political then the obvious trolls just turn up with their obvious agenda's, can't they just stick to SC where "Intelligent debate of newsworthy issues." occurs and us unintelligent oiks can stay in our lane in GD?
The next burning question I have is that with a bit of a stalemate and seemingly lots of violence brewing on both sides, is this going to be a very dark period for the US?

I'm pretty sure thats not him fireing those shots off, (his rifle is aimed at the floor, no smoke or muzzle flashes) but I don't know who it is, I've seen another video from another angle where the shots are louder from that persons perspective.

He didn't start poping shots off at people, he shot three people in total and none of them were random people, there were two people killed, after the second person killed that you refer to there as a justified homicide he shot a third person in the arm, that person had a handgun.
I suspect there are legal arguments to be made in support of both what the kid did and what the person with the handgun did.
you would be inclined to do nothing. On the itnernet everyone thinks they are gangster, if a full riot was in progress in Leeds you would be sat on your sofa with popcorn watching the live stream from Sky News talking big about how if you weren't so busy eating popcorn you would go there an smash up some looters. The truth is you would lay a massive log in your pantyhose before going anywhere near there..........

I've been the only person to take action in quite a few occasions wildman. I've helped 2 people in Leeds train station who were having seizures/fits, the first time I put a towel on the back of the guys head and applied pressure because he'd cracked it on the concrete and got someone to call an ambulance (there were dozens of people stood around doing NOTHING), the second time the blokes lips had gone blue while people were stood around like lemons, I put him in the recovery position so he could breath and waited for the paramedics, his head was back and his tongue was blocking his airway before I did that. I intervened in a fight at the local pub I used to work at where 2 blokes had pulled a T shirt over the head of one of the locals and were going to town on him while he wasn't able to defend himself, I got between them and pushed them away and blocked quite a few punches before they got thrown out, I stopped the guy getting his head kicked in. I intervened in an older bloke being attacked in a bus station and stopped it going any further. I'm really not one to sit around though I can see why you might assume that because most people will do nothing, they just expect someone else to do it, a lot of people like that in this thread.
