What is everyones perspective on this? They do have some valid points. Although it makes me wonder how many will stick to their morals.

Ridiculous tbh... I'm more than happy with the free content valve have released for L4d, many software companies wouldn't do that. If you don't want to buy L4D2 or don't think it's worth the money then dont buy it simple. I also suspect most of the people 'boycotting' will buy it, they're just hoping they can get some kind of discount/freebie.

What a load of absolute and utter rubbish.

The release of Left 4 Dead 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming.

Yeah, multiplayer gaming as a whole will never be the same again. Idiots.

The announced content of Left 4 Dead 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Left 4 Dead.

Because we've all played it already and are in a position to make such a judgement

Left 4 Dead has not yet received the support and content which Valve has repeatedly stated will be delivered.

About the only point even approaching valid. If they'd never released a single update though, I'd still consider it fantastic value. Basically they're saying "We want more free stuff than we've already gotten!" Idiots. Again.

The release of Left 4 Dead 2 will make Left 4 Dead an obsolete purchase and inferior piece of software after only one year since release.

Wow, only got a year's gaming out of your purchase? Criminal. Have I mentioned I think they're idiots?

I'll probably end up buying this as I very much enjoyed L4D. Great multiplayer game to be honest.

I see where they're coming from, Valve have spoilt the TF2 crowd with the updates and tweaks that game has received. Most online shooters just get patches, CoD4 has had patches and a few new maps.

Alas, you made a one off payment for L4D, CoD4, CS:S, TF2 and you should be happy to get any free content/patches. You're not paying like you would an MMO, and as such shouldn't expect updates/patches/content like you would an MMO.

Kids, stamping their feet, having a tantrum because they're parents are going to have to buy them this game instead of them getting it for free.

I think people just became annoyed when the sequel was announced feeling that L4D1 was going to be abandoned instead of getting the support they were expecting, such as that received by TF2.

The original instigators of the boycott were recently brought to Valve HQ and given a hands on demonstration of the game and have since given their seal of approval I believe meaning the whole boycott thing is a bit of a joke anyways.

After L4D1 Valve certainly have my money for the sequel, I've even considered booking the release night off work to get some playtime in

I never got around to purchasing Left 4 Dead so this will be a definite purchase for me.

Damn, lots of money going out soon on games... I can't recall having this many day one purchases coming up for me.

(By that, I mean Left 4 Dead 2 and Mordern Warfare 2

I'm unhappy that they have decided to release this only a year after L4d1 but will still buy L4D2, I trust valve to make another good game.

Aye. Saw some videos of it the other day...it looks like it will be fun, but I don't think a new game was warranted.

i understand where there coming from but i will not complain about having another pc game on my shelf pc needs all the support it can get i hate whiners
