L4D2 boycott???

From what I've seen Left for dead 2 definately dosen't warrant itself as a sequel. A sequel is a leap from it's predessor, think cod 1 - cod 2 - cod 4. Each was massively different, improved graphics, sounds, whole different playstyle etc etc.

Left for dead 2, seems more like more of the same. And if that's the case, it should be a cut priced expansion. Because that's exactly what it is - expanding on the original.

However as PC gamers we haven't got a leg to stand on, and valve is one of the only companies still producing quality titles for the PC .... well the pc and the consoles. So for that reason I won't be joining the group, and will begrudingly be buying this for full price.

I really don't get why people get so into their "communities" which for most people in most games, is a few people they recognise on their favorite servers.

Why do people get so into a game(especially one so god damn short and limited) that they get upset at the very thought of moving on.

Okay, MMO's to a certain degree, largely because they are MUCH longer and end game content often is done with teams repeatedly and people you know. Even then I still don't get why people get quite so attached, real friends can move on to a new game together anyway.

They are acting like they want nothing more than to play this version of L4D, for the next 60 years before they are buried with a copy of the game, get a drip.

eh? Cod 1 and 2, and 4/5 are basic on the rails fps's, improved graphics and physics? Graphics, yes, but thats normal for any sequel, phsyics, nothing feels improved at all, gameplay, is identical but in different surroundings, even going as far as to have the one/two sniper missions in each version. The only missing bits, IIRC are some tank bits in cod 4/5.

If L4D 2 is as short as the first one, I'd wait and pick it up equally as cheap as I got the first one, and be left dissappointed by the length, its its got 4 separate levels, I don't see why it should be an add on at all, if it literally is one new map then sure, it should be a free content release, but then, how exactly do you think they'll continue to make money, which is of course ultimately their goal.

I'm sorry but since when did Valve become best friends with the "community"?

They're still a business that have made great games with great support but nobody deserves special treatment by them. Requesting a discount is ridiculous. It's so laughable. Man if you don't want L4D2 the easy solution would be to not buy it. It's so immature man. :/

and your point is? Aren't all sequels supposed to expand on the original by making it better?

If you've played L4D for a good amount of time you'd know how easy a team can go down by making one little mistake. A grab from a licker and it could be all over. By adding different enemies with different abilities, it changes the game play up big time.

Personally I will be preordering but I can see where these people are coming from, and we have been really spoilt with TF2. On another forum someone was wondering out loud if valve were releasing as a new game rather than an update as Microsoft is making them charge for downloadable content now (£9 I think)

also wish valve would bleedin well sort out CS:Source once and for all

boycotting tosspots

l4d2 is gonna be 2 TIMES AS DEAD!1111 wooo wooo woooo

the only downer is now its [L4D2AA]
thats hard to type boozed up

I won't be buying it unless I can get it for £15-£17 or so. It's basically the same game with new maps, a few new weapons & baddies and reskinned characters.

So you wont be buying any sequels to any game from now on unless they are £15-17 ? because new maps, a few new weapons & baddies and reskinned characters is generally what a sequel comprises of

well im not buying it for a long time after release.. i just dont see a point.. one point they have valid which would work really well is to make l4d2 as an update for l4d (can even be premium) so you dont need to buy a new game at a price of 30quid..

My opinion is that L4D is close to being the most fun I've ever had on a PC (gaming ;)) and as such, I will gamble on the sequel being excellent also, and won't hesitate to shell out 30 quid for it on release if necessary.

Ok, I'll admit to being one of those who wasn't happy when I heard about L4D2, and yes I joined the boycott group on steam :D

For me I guess it was down to expectations, I fell for some of the hype and statements Valve were coming out with before the L4D launch, and I honestly thought we would be getting a load of new 'Movies' and all sorts of new weapons, maps etc. In the immediate future. It didn't turn out like that at all. As much as I liked L4D it felt very light on content, If it had been released at say £14.99 I'd have had no issue, but I paid full price for the game expecting a certain amount of future product support. It felt like they decided to just take that content and package it up as L4D2. I'm not saying I expected this for free, I thought it would be a mixture of free content updates, and the odd bumper paid for pack etc.

Now, maybe it's my own fault for not managing expectations, and yeah it's only a game etc, etc. But I still feel that the original game hasn't worked out as I expected and I've got huge reservations about the second one. It's not about the money for me either, I couldn't care less about the cost of a game, like I said earlier it was just that I feel let down over the original game and so feel reluctant to get the second one.

Well, thats my excuse and I'm sticking with it, Retarded ? maybe, but to be honest I'm not that bothered, if the second game is completely amazing and they support that one much better then maybe I'll get it in the future, if not I'll pass on it, no biggie.

let me get this straight, as i understand L4D was released with the devs promising new episodes, new weapons and new monsters as a form of supporting the game ?

but infact they are not supporting the old game with the above but charging us all for the same game with new episodes, new weapons and new monsters ?

i guess the real idiots are those of us who will probably buy this promised content intended for L4D, which is actually being released as a full price sequel ?

i can understand them releasing this on the consoles as they cant play maps created via the superb MOD community, but to charge full price for the same thing with a new lick of paint is a bit naughty...

anyways, where do i pre-order :p
