Lad breaks into a house and is killed...

GTFO or i'll kill you with my keyboard

:D

:p

But seriously, it wasn't a keyboard warrior moment. Far from that, I was shaken up at the time so said some random stuff about calling the police or something and he was gone. None of the get the **** out you ******** or I'll kill ya!

Prior to the incident I would have assumed that would be my reaction. But until you come face to face with one you can't really say

Our hammer was ancient! Must've been about 15-20 years old. I just remember the good times with it now:p

apparently he was only helping the murderer move his stuff out of the house. The incident happened when said murderer pointed out that actually, on balance, he didnt want his Tv, stereo, money etc moved out of the house. an easy error to make i guess

By entering the property, he consented to be stopped with reasonable force. He did not consent to death.

Maybe the "Killer" didn't mean to cause death... Just scare him off with a knife, things get a bit heated, kid gets stabbed and happens to die.

I stand by my original statement.

Real soldiers are out there for not a lot of money, doing what the government tells them to do irrespective of their thoughts on it and may have paid with their lives and their limbs.

The Facebook gangstas use the word as a punchline. I find it distasteful to say the least.

Solja ? Don't make me laugh.

I can understand the position the residents must have been in, at times I have thought somebody was in my house so I grabbed a metal pole in my room and went downstairs to have a check, I would have smacked an intruder with it multiple times as it would have been a startling experience. Not that I'm a violent person, but the thought of some scumbag with the intent to steal my parents or my own property angers me.

Plus you don't know if they have a knife ready to be pulled out so extra rage comes from that thought in the back of your head, at least for me it would.

If I was in my kitchen when I heard somebody in the house I'd have grabbed a knife if it was the only other viable choice to defend myself with, could have been the same situation for these folks. I would certainly seek something that would cause a lot of harm as that would be my first reaction, the legal repercussions would be forgotten in the heat of the moment.

you say that but you cant possibly know how you would react...most people DONT fly into a rage in these situations...and thats why there are so few deaths in these circumstances.

I believe that if someone breaks into your house with the intention of stealing, or causing some sort of damage, you have the right to defend it how you see fit.

It's the only way scum like him will ever learn. He paid the ultimate price, and you know what? He deserved it. Too bad. I just hope anyone else who tries to break into someone's house ends up the same way.

Good on the houseowners for defending themselves. I feel sorry for the family, but at the end of the day, they are the ones who raised him, and should have taught him that burglary is wrong, as his common sense doesn't seem capable of doing so.

Facebook group also full of gold.

Fair play :)

@Chimerical - if it is made clear to the criminal underclass that they are putting their lives at risk by breaking into other people's homes then it will cut the number of burglaries. This can be seen from the example of the USA, where the law clearly is on the side of the home owner, not the intruder and burglaries are lower over there than they are here.

Sounds like a good reason to end pointless and draconian restrictions on firearms ownership to me :)

Being serious for a moment, US states don't differ that much in terms of reasonable force laws to the UK, even the castle doctrine in texas (one of the most pro-homeowner states) doesn't allow you to shoot someone in the back as they are running away, for example. The difference is the in likelyhood of encountering significant resistance, something that our government has been determined to restrict for a very long time, despite the fact that the police can only ever be a reactive force.
