Largish Family Car - SUV?

Just not fast enough, same as Lexus just don't seem to want to put punchy engines in the range. That's where BMW and Audi et al win out.
Lexus are too luxurious, don't need the speed when you're waiting along in peace and harmony! And the older ISF and GSF certainly had a bit of poke to them! LC500? RCF too!

I mean in terms of daily driving. The isf and gsf were to compete again the S, AMG and m range of vehicles.

But there isn't much to compete in the way of BMW's straight 6 turbo or 4 pot turbo, nothing that can compete with the 3ltr TDI either, all are brisk luxury cruisers. Mercedes have their versatile 2ltr turbo and diesel engines, Audi the same and they've a V6 turbo aswell, all in cars that isn't the range topping halo vehicles.

I'm not talking balls out fast.

Mazda do have the 2.5 turbo 4 cylinder but it's fuel economy is woeful and like a 4.4 V8, with barely any more power than the VW/BMW/AMG 2.0ltr turbos

I see your point, they did have a 2.5 V6 and abroad you could get a 3.5 V6, not spectacular engines but not bad either. I think they're all 4 cylinders these days, like most manufacturers :(

I see loads of MGs about currently, are they really good value or something?
Filter by cheapest on the salsac portal and they're near the top.

Lol behave, for 40k I would definitely be looking at different vehicles to a 3008, they're nice and all but 40k ... Naaahh
I clicked that one and was blown away too. Gotta be bonkers to be spanking 40 odd grand on a 1.6 Peugeot.

Yeah think it's mostly the value element, helps that they don't hurt your eyes when looking at them.

Guy up the road has an mg zs suv, it's quite nice, I'd probably say it's on par with a Kia.

I don't think I could ever own one, currently having a Kia and being very unhappy with it I'm sticking to the Germans or Japanese for future car purchases, and will be the upper class models aswell

What's up with the Kia? Quality?

I'm tempted by an audi Q5 but no sure on the lack of speed so going to have a look out for the SQ5 they seem decent and they did a petrol one.
Audi have 2 year warranty and servicing if using their pcp on some cars.

Yes definitely quality, it's mutton dressed as lamb.

The paint quality isn't there, the road noise is actually quite bad, and this is the same across the range that I've had as courtesy cars while mines been in for warranty work. The engines aren't smooth, the sound deadening between cabin and engine isn't great, the interior quality looks good at first glance but as you live with it you realise where the corners have been cut to get the price down.

Compared to my 18 year old A4, the A4 still beats it for smoothness, road noise interior fit and finish etc etc.

The joke is kias aren't even that cheap. I only got it as was from a dealer round the corner to me and I needed a car. In future I will be more picky regardless of desperation

Q5 boot isn't particularly large and the car itself inside is hardly capacious.
