Never done it myself but there were/probably still are a load that do this in the stafford/stoke area. Geeky people yes, but the majority weren't socially inept.

Granted, there are a few..oddballs (probably more than a few) but it's just a bit of fun. There are far worse things they could be doing.

Some of the comments here, it's like being in a school playground. Ah the fun of the internet.

OMG, do people really do that and take it seriously, ****ing hell :(

I thought that role playing war crap was bad but holy **** that's on a whole new level.

It made me dry wretch.

Yep. It's called "it looks like fun, but if I admit it, I'll have to break the alpha manly façade I've been trying to keep up around here, so I must attack it with my fearsome keyboard skillz".

I like to imagine these people as sweaty, bespectacled, neckbearded internerds sitting in the dark in front of the blue glow of their monitors. It's probably not far off the reality. :p

I did this a couple of times in 1983 down at Treasure Trap at Peckforton Castle.

Since then I've done lots of other things ranging from paintball, karting, gliding and parachuting through to taking supercars round silverstone and playing around in full flight military and civil aircraft sims. I have to say that the fun and adrenaline from the Treasure Trap visit ranks pretty high on the list and I have fond memories of the time there. Don't mock it till you've tried it would be my suggestion :)
