Lateness at work

Hang on, most of your lates are in September and also as far as I know there was no snow around September in London, when there was snow you were late 3 times at max (rough estimate)

You are either trolling (hope so) or you seriously need to get your act together.

16 hours 15 mins late over an entire career is unacceptable let alone a few months, no wonder they are disciplining you. As a qualified union rep id say your ******
 
My god, everybody who works has to get out of bed and drive/bus/train to work - what makes you so special :confused: I've been working for over 20 years now and most of that time I've used public transport. I've been late only a handful of occasions in all that time.

I would give your employer a medal for going easy on you :eek:

Surely anyone with half a brain would just get an earlier bus/tube so you can afford to miss it? An how do people forget to set alarms when for a fiver you can get a digital one and program it Days/weeks/months in advance
 
I see a simple solution here:

When the OP gets a new job (after being fired from his current one) he should get up 30 minutes earlier and the problem will be resolved.

I told you it was simple.
 
These days I don't have any set times that I need to be in work.
When I did I found that the train was often delayed, causing me to be late occasionally.
My solution to this problem was to get up earlier and catch an earlier train, so if that got delayed I still wasn't late.

It's a novel concept I know, but it works.
 
I have a disciplinary at work because i have been late a lot of times on the early shift :mad: The new supervisor is a real dick and now he is on my case about lateness, we had four tube strikes and load of snow end of last year and i did not call in sick once. I often work through my lunches. Do you think that i have any chance of talking my way out of this one? Below are the times in minutes that i was late on the early shift.

I would say 70% of the lateness is due to the pathetic unreliable public transport in london, but like everyone, i over sleep and forget to set my alarm sometimes. Anyone else have this problem?

Not everyone oversleeps! I'm amazed you have kept the job so long.
 
All i can suggest is getting a job with company with a sliding doors approach to time. I.e If you come in later, you stay later, you come in earlier, you go earlier.

That is the thing it is only on the early shift, from 8am to 4:30pm that i am ever late. I work at a place that contracts out the IT department to the company I work for. I am the first one in, in the mornings at 8am, so to be honest i thought no one knew and that it had a more relaxed attitude to being late. But one day i was late 1 hour because of waking up late and then they checked the cards and saw my lateness and on the 1 december they called me in for an informal meeting. They said that it was unacceptable and that i must be on time etc. then i was late a few days ago due to not setting my alarm and that is why i have disciplinary.

But those weeks in september were especially bad on the public transport due to strikes.

I always said that i am not paid enough to come in 30 mins early. That would mean that they are getting my time for free and they won't be complaining if i am come in at 7:30am every morning. I always catch the train that gets me there like 7:50 or so and then if it runs late or whatever that is when i am 20mins late. etc.
