Take your pick. I'm sure it covers all angles because it very much gets discussed in person from all points of view. The biggest one comes up about it is the threat of cheap labour that the ones of the past spent ages building up good wages over the decades. Even though they too were once on very bare minimum wages all bunked up.

Illegal then.

Why should we support illegal immigration? What positive do we have from it?

May I ask what your background is, out of interest? I only ask because I come from a working class family on a council estate, I've never met anyone that has made the "took err jerbs" argument. I also come from a background that has legal immigrants in it. People who integrated and are well loved by their communities. People who, much like me, detest the open borders let any old bugger in approach we've suffered.

Yep. You tend to find that people who have experienced directly, or indirectly the rather painful, expensive, proper channels tend to quite rightly object to others being given a free ride.
I don't care much to give any opinions on that, my stance is based on the lack of sufficient infrastructure to cope with the current population - the aging population, increased birth rate and immigration all play a part but one we can have much better controls around.

@NVP

I used to be, went through an 18.5 stone fat phase about ten years ago. Punjabi by nature (not cuz I hate ya) although not a practicing Sikh, I have the ethos within :)

I was a bit tongue in cheek buddy, but I've been through similar stuff and you've been a badass on the forum.

I'm agnostic but I've a ton of respect for certain peoples.

I've a lot of love for Sikh.

Anyone who has grown up around Sikhs will hold them up as a success story of integration to be honest. No whining or moaning, just getting on with it. As for the way the elderly are treated, well, it puts us to shame in all honesty.

Not saying the community is without issues just like anyone else because there are definitely bad apples, especially in property development. However, considering we're constantly told how "racist" the UK is as a society it's amazing how successful so many Sikhs have become against all those gargantuan odds.

Mates of mine still remember being called the p word at school, times have changed but they don't have a chip on their shoulder about it, they just laugh at the knobs that abused them back in the day because those wasters are now doing nothing meaningful with their lives.

isn't it great when people just get along...

Absolutely bud.

I've been called all sorts of awful stuff, but I take it in stride and move on. Usually it's from people who look more like myself.

Every community has poor people, of course it's a given. But when it comes to the Sihk's I've never met a better or more willing group of people if we're to be general about it. I adore them as a people, I've spent time with them and talked to them. They have 'groups' essentially designed to defend their girls and young ones from the worst parts of society, they're extremely proactive and I respect that so much.

It's part of the reason many of them came to the UK.

Perfect example of what is a great immigrant.

Hey you can't forget about the Chinese, they smashed it tiiiime ago, and globally too.

@Gray2233 you blackanese yeh? Is that why the agnostic choice, it was easiest?

e: just curious, no offence :)
